A new ABARES report shows almost $3 billion was invested in Australian agricultural R & D last financial year, and over 10 years that’s expected to generate about $24 billion in return to farmers. 🚀 AgriFutures growAG is home more than 3300 research projects from RDCs, universities and private entities. We’ve crunched the numbers and found this year’s three most visited research pages – showing that from emerging industries to established farming systems R&D brings benefits: 👉 Quick and simple test for wine grape growers (Wine Australia). 👉 Protecting Australia’s growing seaweed industry (University of Adelaide and FRDC - Fisheries Research and Development Corporation). 👉 Picking the most productive dairy pastures (Dairy Australia, DataGene Limited, Meat & Livestock Australia and Pasture Trials Network). Interested to know how listening to plants can transform fertiliser efficiency? ☘ Imagine a future where plants can “tell” us exactly what nutrients they need and when. Far from science fiction – it’s a frontier of agricultural innovation that ICL Group, a global leader in specialty minerals, is exploring. 👉 Hear from industry expert; ICL Group’s Open Innovation Lead, Ziv Kohav. “We’re interested in participating in the conversation between plants and microorganisms – in subtle ways to prepare the plant, and its microbiome for future conditions, like drought. It’s about convincing microorganisms to do something that we want them to do.” 👉 How? Ziv explains, “You can actually talk with the microorganisms in the soil because they communicate with each other and the plant through signalling molecules, similar to how humans communicate with each other.” 💡 Success story: ICL Group and Pluri Biotech’s partnership 💡 ICL’s approach to partnerships is about more than just collaboration – it’s about strategic alignment and shared innovation. Its partnership with Pluri Biotech, a cutting-edge 3D cell expansion tech company, is a great example.
