CURVES IN ALL THE RIGHT PLACES. Beyond a magnificent circa 1900 Victorian facade, a spectacular transformation takes hold, Ross street by Grace Lewin is a masterclass renovation. We had the luxury of redesigning this home with the team, it was a great collaborative effort in which we were able to maximise each space creating a beautiful light-filled home. A curve was introduced to the island bench to cut into the original linear layout, bringing light into the open plan living, kitchen and dining zone and creating a seamless glazed threshold between house and outdoor area to bring them gently together. This single-storey holiday home on the Mornington Peninsula has been transformed with a warm, earthy palette that speaks to the natural beauty of its surroundings. The renovation enhances the existing beach house with a design that flows seamlessly from the inviting entry to the open living space, complete with a cozy wood fireplace. Timber batten detailing, paired with vertical cladding, extends throughout the home, adding elongated visual elements that complement the sun-soaked backyard. OSBORNE RESIDENCE. Stepping inside the Osborne Residence signals an immediate departure from the everyday. It is a home of unexpected encounters – surprising curves combine with an abundance of greenery, beachy earth tones and contrasting textures. With a brief to design a functional and timeless family home, we decided to look through a distinctive lens, creating a home that flows seamlessly, feels calm and needed to be high-end. Set in the heart of Melbourne’s inner west suburb of Williamstown opposite the leafy botanical gardens, this home ties in nicely to the streetscape. It feels calm and soft. A strong sense of connection between the indoors and outdoors is key to creating this mood. The open living spaces allow the outdoors to play a part indoors. An open ground-floor plan really exploits the home pool and landscape aspect. This is then enhanced by the outdoor living area that sits just adjacent to the kitchen and meals area. ONE SIDE OF THE STORY. The vision for this project was to create two contemporary townhomes that are each individually unique and complement each other as an equal pair. The response to this design challenge was both original and aesthetically pleasing. This includes bold gable rooflines and matching central entranceways softened by a curved wall in off-white brick. Identical vertically-battened dark timber screens provide both privacy and a stylishly minimal front facade.
