At Human Impact Group we know the importance of culture when assessing an ideal career move. One of the most influential factors in assessing culture alignment (and in a candidate's ultimate decision) is the Hiring Manager. Specifically - their leadership preferences & principles, communication style and frequency, their decision making process, examples of developing their staff and how they choose the appropriate approach as a leader between ‘managing’, ‘mentoring’ and ‘coaching’. Employers - its an extremely competitive market for top talent in the renewables & energy transition infrastructure sectors. How could you do a better job of showcasing your leaders when running a recruitment process?

At Human Impact Group we have coined a new phrase for the sector we specialise in - "energy transition infrastructure". This encompasses all large energy infrastructure projects that enable decarbonisation. Large scale projects including renewable energy generation, energy storage (short & long duration), transmission networks & connection assets, off grid energy solutions, and emerging pockets such as offshore wind and green fuels. Our company mission is "to connect humans to careers where they can have the greatest impact on the energy transition". Everything we do as a business, and as individuals, is an effort to bring this mission to life. We are all extremely grateful and excited to work with the passionate professionals in this space who are ALL making a difference on transitioning to a zero emission society. It is an extremely exciting time to have a career in the energy transition infrastructure space. 2025 is positioned as a breakthrough year in Australia to make genuine progress on our 2030 emission & renewable energy targets. Lets get to work! #energytransition #careers #2025

Cubico Sustainable Investments submits two wind & BESS (hybrid) development projects in Western Downs (QLD) for approval. One of the projects (Middle Creek Energy Hub) is a significant development with proposed 1.3GW of wind generation, which would make it one of the largest in Australia once operating. Targeting construction around 2027, these projects are located in the Western Downs Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) which is one of five proposed REZs in Queensland and is looking to attract up to 2.6GW of generation. #megaprojects #renewableenergy #REZ https://buff.ly/3DX4rbF

Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is progressing the significant transmission project, the Victoria to NSW Interconnector (VNI West), to Invitation to Tender phase (ITT). In contrast to the NSW Renewable Energy Zones tenders, AEMO (and the Victorian Government's - Transmission Company Victoria, TCV) are looking to appoint a development partner to co-develop the permitting and primary planning phases. They will then run a process for the design & construct (D&C) and operations & maintenance (O&M) partners when the project has progressed through development. AEMO is looking to appoint a development partner early 2025, with the delivery (construction) phase of the project in 2026. #transmission #interconnectors #energytransition https://buff.ly/3ZihKKR

Macquarie banks battery storage development firm Eku Energy continues its momentum in 2024 by reaching financial close on its 250MW / 500MWh Williamsdale battery energy storage system (BESS) project. The battery was able to reach this milestone through a highly innovative contracting model with a revenue sharing model with the ACT government over a 15 year contract. “This project highlights how innovative revenue contracting models play an important role in advancing the development of large-scale battery projects, enabling value creation for the ACT government and the ability to secure financial backing to deliver a low-cost energy storage solution,” Elias Saba (Chief Technology Officer, Eku). Its been a huge year for battery energy storage in Australia! Great to see the ACT government continue to lead and innovate in the renewables sector. #energystorage #bess #financialclose

The multi-billion dollar Oven Mountain pumped hydro project has taken a large step towards being realised with the signing of a construction early contractor involvement (ECI) contract. Global construction contractors Gamuda Australia & Ferrovial have teamed up again (currently delivering a major road project ) for a joint venture for design and construction of this mega project. Exciting times for the #pumpedhydro technology in Australia, with several projects advancing to be built in the coming years! #longdurationstorage #energystorage #energytransition

The off-grid sector in Australia is set to jump significantly in scale of the power systems in the next few years. With mining operators ramping up their decarbonisation commitments, the business case for largely renewable off grid projects has never been more compelling. Recently, the largest off grid power system moved into operations - Kathleen Valley hybrid project - which integrates solar, wind, BESS and firming LNG power. The asset, which was designed built and will be operated by Zenith Energy, allows mining company Liontown Resources Limited to operate 60% emissions free at its Goldfields lithium mine. “Not only does the Kathleen Valley hybrid power system show the way forward as a world-class project, but it also demonstrates how decarbonisation of the mining sector can be achieved through joint effort and shared success.” Hamish Moffat, Zenith Energy CEO #offgrid #miningdecarbonisation #hybridrenewables

Fortescue signs a trailblazing $4B deal with Liebherr for 455 zero emission machines, including autonomous battery electric trucks, electric excavators and battery powered dozers. The deal represents Liebherr’s largest-ever single equipment deal, and Fortescue’s single largest contract ever. “Fortescue notes that its mining fleet consumed approximately 450 million litres of diesel in the 2024 financial year, accounting for 51% of the company’s direct emissions” Electrification of the mining sector has seen slow progress the past few years, however significant programs are currently being discussed in Australia to enable the mining companies to reach their scope 2 & 3 commitments. #miningdecarbonisation #greendeals #electricvehicle

EnergyAustralia has signed an offtake agreement for 40% of TagEnergy's Golden Plains wind farm (stage 2). Golden Plains stage 1 & 2 once built will be one of the largest operating wind farms in the world (~1.3GW). TagEnergy had a highly innovative contracting strategy with Golden Plains WF with both stages being able to reach financial close fully merchant, with the view to securing offtakes during construction and early operations. Once both stages are operating the generation will make up a massive 9% of Victoria's energy demand. #powerpurhcaseagreement #ppa #offtake #windenergy
