  • 🌟 Celebrating Progress in Reconciliation 🌟 Reflecting on our achievements from last year, a standout moment was the successful bids for the Capacity Investment Scheme for our Hallett and Wooreen battery systems. Our strong relationships with local Traditional Owner groups and First Nations participation were key to these successes, underscoring the importance of our reconciliation efforts in driving our strategic goals. We’re excited to share that we’ve officially wrapped up our Innovate #2 RAP! Here are just a few of the milestones we’ve achieved:  *Record participation in National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week events, including special guests Eddie Betts and Thomas Mayo  *Launched a cultural eLearning program, accessible to all our workforce and families  *Refined our First Nations employment strategy in partnership with Mob Jobs.  *Increased our spend with First Nations suppliers, hitting pre-covid targets in FY24.  *Consulted and worked with local Traditional Owner Groups what’s on various projects across our sites including the Tallawarra offset project with the Illawarra Local Aboriginal Land Council A big thank you to all of our people for their dedication and hard work in advancing this important work. Nicole McKechnie, RAP Executive Sponsor said: “We spend time understanding the crucial role Indigenous people play in our culture and the respect they deserve. Our reconciliation efforts are about more than business goals—they're about mutual respect and understanding. #Reconciliation #HeartofEA Jade Torcasio #RAP #EnergyAustralia

  • We are proud to support Kind Hearts Illawarra through our workplace giving program. Every Tuesday and Thursday nights, their dedicated volunteers provide wholesome meals, fresh food hampers, essential supplies, and a sense of community to those in need. “We’re supporting anywhere between 60-100 people at each outreach night. We see the impact that cost of living, mental health, family violence and addictions are having on our community. Our volunteers are amazing at being that friendly, trusted face that can offer support and advice, diffuse difficult situations or importantly, be a kind ear to listen. The best part of our job is when our friends share with us that they no longer need our services because they have found secure accommodation or employment and are able to move forward with their lives.” Learn more about Kind Hearts Illawarra and how you can support their work: 👉 kindheartsillawarra.com.au

  • We were proud to sponsor the 2025 EnergyAustralia Classic Singles lawn bowl event, held at the Newborough Bowling Club from Monday, 6 January, to Thursday, 9 January 2025. This incredible event brought together bowlers from near and far, showcasing talent, sportsmanship, and community spirit—and it’s even more special knowing this community is home to so many of our people. Rebecca Harvey shared her experience: “I had the pleasure of attending, and to be honest, I knew absolutely nothing about lawn bowls at first. But it didn’t take long before I was hooked! The skill, strategy, and excitement on the green were truly captivating—and it turns out, lawn bowls isn’t just for the older generation. This year, there was a competitor as young as 14!” A big congratulations to all involved, including the Newborough Bowling Club for hosting another successful tournament. Supporting events like this is a reminder of how special it is to invest in the communities where so many of us live and work—and to be part of moments that bring people together.

  • When our Workplace Giving partner, Launch Housing, put out a call for toy donations for families in their care for Christmas, our Melbourne teams sprang into action; donating approximately $1,000 worth of toys and gift cards to their Toy Appeal and volunteering to deliver and sort the presents.    This week we were pleased to hear stories of the joy those presents brought to the families who received them.     "One mum shared with Launch Housing how grateful she was for the gifts, as this was their first Christmas in a home together for over year and so wanted to make it extra special. With the gifts donated, she was able to take her son to get a small Christmas tree which they could decorate together as now there would be something under the tree."   - Anna Sims, Partnerships Manager Launch Housing    Thank you to our people and their Big 💚 Hearts for getting behind Launch Housing’s appeal to make a difference in our community.

  • Last year, we had the privilege of partnering with the Baw Baw Latrobe Local Learning & Employment Network (BBLLLEN) for their incredible NET Program. Focused on emerging jobs of the future in renewable energy and technology, the program empowers Year 9 and 10 students to explore energy innovations through hands-on learning and mentorship. Hosted at Gippsland Tech School in Morwell, the NET Program saw students tackle real-world challenges across three themes: 🔧 Technologies – like managing renewable energy transmission systems. ⚙️ Engineering – exploring solar, wind, and biomass energy solutions. 🌱 Emerging Jobs – creating pathways for young people into renewables. One standout participant, Gemma Webb from LOWANNA COLLEGE, focused her challenge on mine rehabilitation. Gemma’s vision for Yallourn included a lake with recreation areas, boating facilities, a lookout, and tracks and trails to benefit the community. What an inspiring and thoughtful project! A huge congratulations to Gemma and all the students for their innovative ideas, and thank you to BBLLLEN for creating such an impactful program. It was an honour for our team to mentor these bright minds and contribute to shaping the future of renewable energy.

  • January is the perfect time to think big and act boldly. A little over three years ago, a conversation about how to support the growing issue of food insecurity in the Latrobe Valley sparked The People’s Kitchen, a partnership between Tracie Lund from Morwell Neighbourhood House, our Yallourn team (David Burt), and the Latrobe Health Assembly. Since then, this initiative has delivered over 14,000 healthy, pre-cooked meals to the community, with volunteer sessions booked out by the local business community and other volunteers months in advance. A win for the community and for local business looking for ways to volunteer and give back. Together with our people, we have proudly contributed over $80,000 through workplace giving in support of The People’s Kitchen, with 137 of our team helping prepare 2,806 meals. Is there a big idea on your list for 2025?

    • Our volunteers, smiling, creating healthy meals for the The People's Kitchen in Morwell.
