Emma, Dementia Registered Nurse and Michelle, Clinical Psychologist, recently held a community information session tailored to carers of people with Dementia to stay happy and healthy during the Christmas season and reduce carer strain. Attendees were provided with tips and strategies such as minimising delirium risk, self-care for carers and meaningful activities for Christmas Day. “Thank you so much for organising and delivering such an informative and relevant session for us today. I will be definitely implementing some strategies generally to help with the caring role and to make the festive season more enjoyable for my Mum. We are so proud of our Aged Care Services Manager, Leigh, who recently presented at the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) conference in Cairns. Leigh demonstrated to attendees the benefits and outcomes from Hunter Primary Care's Nurse Practitioner pilot program in aged care facilities across the Newcastle and Hunter region. The program is a new model of care to improve access to primary care and support residents of aged care homes to manage their healthcare goals.
