Ipswich is celebrating a once-in-a-generation transformation of its city heart, officially throwing open the doors on three major entertainment venues in its landmark Nicholas Street Precinct. HOYTS Group, General Public and Hotel Commonwealth headline a rapidly transforming Nicholas Street Precinct, joining over 18 businesses offering visitors a fresh mix of dining and entertainment. Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the official opening of the cornerstone projects marked the next phase in the economic growth of Ipswich Central. “HOYTS, General Public and Hotel Commonwealth are the anchor tenants that will drive people to our city centre, reignite our nighttime economy, and bring new visitors and opportunities to benefit all businesses in the CBD. This is a great day for our community.” Ipswich City Council Community and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson and Division 1 Councillor Pye Augustine said the excitement surrounding the new openings was just the beginning. “We’re thrilled to announce that even more premier hospitality and entertainment experiences are set to be revealed over the coming months, further cementing Nicholas Street Precinct as Ipswich’s ultimate destination for lifestyle and leisure,” Councillor Augustine said. Our Willow community is excitedly nearing Settlements for Stage 16 with the final construction steps progressing swiftly ahead. In Stage 16B, electrical works are complete, with footpath construction and topsoiling also nearing completion. Practical Completion is expected in the coming days. Recently Dawn has seen lots of exciting progress across the growing community including Stage 6E roadworks advancing smoothly, with asphalt works now complete and plan sealing expected by the end of the month. In Stage 6D, kerb and footpath installation is underway, with road pavement set to follow soon. Henry Lawson Park is also on track for Practical Completion this month, bringing new community features such as a cricket net, dog park, and skate park.
