We're in the midst of an immersive trade mission, hosting 13 international delegates on the South Coast of New South Wales (NSW). The delegates were present for the NSW Seaweed prospectus launch yesterday, enjoying a locally catered lunch from Kraken Sourdough, topped off with seaweed ingredients from Phyco Health, and drinks from Jervis Bay Brewing Co.. It was great to see first-hand how these companies thrive in regional NSW while highlighting the variety of trade and investment opportunities to our international delegates. With a few more stops to make, including an oyster shucking demonstration and tasting from Australia's Oyster Coast, stay tuned for a full wrap-up on the trade mission early next week. #trademission #seaweed #seaweedopportunities #investmentopportunities #investregionalNSW #canada #china #france #germany #india #ireland #italy #japan #netherlands #newzealand #poland #switzerland #unitedkingdom

The Federal Government has officially passed the Future Made in Australia legislation, introducing an important production tax credit support for critical minerals mining across the country, including New South Wales (NSW). Offering globally significant resource deposits and 21 of the 31 nationally declared critical minerals vital for clean energy technologies, NSW has great capacity to drive further value across the supply chain. The recently updated Critical Minerals and High-Tech Metals Strategy also outlines a $250 million royalties deferral to help get new projects up and running, as well as a series of actions to boost local manufacturing and processing opportunities. The NSW Government has approved two major large-scale batteries valued over $1 billion each. Planned for Tomago, near Newcastle, and Mt Piper, near Lithgow, the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will be among the biggest in Australia. Each BESS will store up to 500MW / 2,000 MWh to power over 200,000 homes when needed. Construction of the two batteries will create over 300 jobs. In addition, Tomago’s developer AGL will provide approximately $2.2 million to Port Stephens Council for community improvement projects and Mt Piper’s developer EnergyAustralia will invest up to $2 million into the Lithgow City LGA through Voluntary Planning Agreements. #renewableenergy #batterystorage #investmentopportunities #investregionalnsw

NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce recently held The Summit in the Hunter where some of our team joined key industry organisations and successful Aboriginal business operators. ‘Renewables Summit Corridor’ or 'Panyal Ngatan Wipi Corridor' meaning ‘sun and wind’ in Wonnarua, showcased the importance of Aboriginal participation within the renewable energy sector. The corridor highlighted current and planned opportunities, such as tenders, work packages and employment needs, and how to prepare for the renewables sector. In support of the growing demand for aeroskills in the defence and aerospace sectors, the NSW Government collaborated with key stakeholders to launch the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Attraction Program under its Targeted Workforce Development Scheme. Recently, TAFE NSW and Pennant International Group Plc's AME Attraction Program gave students hands-on experience in the world of aircraft maintenance engineering. For many participants, it was their first time exploring a career in aviation, and they discovered unexpected opportunities. This initiative was delivered by Training Services NSW, funded by the NSW Government, and supported by TAFE NSW, HunterNet Career Connections, Hunter Defence, and BAE Systems Australia. Global leader in long-duration energy storage, Hydrostor, has signed a Crown Lands lease agreement with the NSW Government to develop the Silver City Energy Storage Centre. This transformative project will not only provide crucial backup power to Broken Hill, but boost regional energy security and bring the vision of a self-sufficient mini-grid closer to reality. The agreement will see Hydrostor lease the land for a period of 65 years, with construction expected to begin next year following development approval. The facility is designed to tap into renewable sources and create a mini-grid, potentially supplying the entire town independently from the National Electricity Market (NEM). More than just energy security, the Silver City project represents a major boost for local employment, with up to 780 direct and indirect jobs supported through the construction phase. This initiative, backed by the NSW Government, marks a critical investment in clean energy infrastructure and positions NSW as a leader in the transition to a stable and renewable-powered NEM.
