Brisbane is the focus for the global space industry this week, hosting the International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Automation in Space i-SAIRAS 2024. 🌍🛰️ Yesterday I joined Australia’s first female astronaut and space systems engineer Dr Katherine Bennell-Pegg to talk to more than 120 enthusiastic year 4, 7 and 8 students about some of the amazing science happening in Queensland that supports space exploration. 🚀 These students are our scientists and engineers of the future and it was great to see their interest in all things science and space related. Hosted by Australia’s national science agency CSIRO, this is the first time the symposium has been held in Australia in its 25-year history. It has brought experts from the national and international space community including space agencies, research organisations, industry innovators and the commercial technology sector to Queensland. Queensland can capitalise on events such as these to grow our science and innovation ecosystem and bring new talent, investment and industries to the state.
