"Unlocking domestic energy infrastructure and mineral extraction potential while adhering to high environmental standards is essential to reducing dependence on foreign supply chains." The results of the 2024 US presidential election present a unique opportunity for the new administration to address foreign dominance in #criticalminerals and secure battery supply chains by harnessing its abundant natural resources. "A robust battery manufacturing ecosystem is essential to maintaining both military and commercial advantages" writes Robbie Diamond. "Winning the battery competition with China will reduce reliance on Chinese minerals and position the United States as a leader in the global #energytransition." "The United States cannot afford to hope that Beijing will refrain from weaponizing its control over critical minerals. We live in an era where the 'national security' label is slapped on to policies of every variety, but it would be a grave error to underestimate the importance of mineral policy." Read the oped by Robbie Diamond and Morgan Ortagus of POLARIS National Security in the Washington Examiner on the opportunity for the new administration to secure mineral supply chains for our energy and national security needs. https://lnkd.in/esW6nCd2

Matthew Lengerich, Executive General Manager, Mining at Jervois Global, represented Jervois at the REUTERS NEXT: Questioning Today to Build a Better Tomorrow Leadership Summit on December 10-11, 2024, in New York City. Jervois is seeing a change in purchase behaviours with customers willing to pay a premium for cobalt sulphate. The incoming Administration can significantly advance the securing of America's critical minerals supply chains by using targeted trade tools reflective of market dynamics, stockpiling critical metals in meaningful volumes, and supporting the ability of western companies to build and operate U.S. mines and refineries through China-induced price collapses. https://lnkd.in/gnc7tWg6 #ReutersNEXT #CriticalMinerals #NationalSecurity #JervoisGlobal #Leadership #cobalt #JRV

In case you missed it.
Day 1 at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) with the #TeamFinland business delegation in Sydney. Critical minerals are essential for the transition to net zero. Not only as a vital component for low emission technology, but as an industry in need of decarbonisation. Finnish solutions, enabled by digital technologies such as 6G, AI and quantum, focus on improving circularity, efficiency and sustainability across the industry. Ambassador Arto Haapea visited many these solutions throughout the day including Nokia, Latitude 66 Limited, Endomines, Sandvik and Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA). Great to see so many world leading innovations from Finland on the ground in Australia! #TeamFinlandAustralia #IMARC2024 Mining Finland | Finland Australia Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
