  • Are you, or a person you support, nearing the end of the schooling journey? The transition from high school to post-school is a significant time of change: change in routines, change to supports, and a shift in the mindset and identity of the person and their support network. All of this change can be quite overwhelming, but we have a webinar that could help put your mind at ease. Hosted by Lisa and Alex, they will help you consider: – What is important to me/my person post-school? – How does the role of the family and informal supports change post-school? – What do I want to experience, and how do I want my post-school weeks to look? To watch, head to our webinar page: https://lnkd.in/gKxm8jRt

  • Meet Martin, a passionate trainer at our Adelaide hub, dedicated to making a difference in the disability sector. Martin’s drive comes from a deeply personal place. His sister, Claudia, has Down syndrome and suffered a stroke that left her paralysed on her left side. Despite being told she’d never walk again, Claudia defied the odds with loving, professional support and regained mobility, leading a healthy and fulfilling life. She worked full-time for many years before retiring at 54. Martin has seen firsthand how inclusion in the workforce boosts confidence, independence, and purpose. Now, he’s dedicated to ensuring others with disability have the same opportunities, breaking down barriers and shifting public perceptions about their abilities. Through Jigsaw, Martin helps trainees grow and find their true potential. For him, it’s all about empowering others, just as his sister was empowered. Today is International Day of People With Disability, and this year's theme is 'Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for a sustainable and inclusive future'. Our organisation is lucky to have many persons with disability taking on impactful roles as leaders, but today we wanted to highlight the story of Conor Merrigan. Conor is a Jigsaw graduate working at Westpac in their Records Management department. With the recent transition of four new Jigsaw graduates to the Records Management team, Conor has stepped up into a mentor role, providing support and guidance to his newest team members to ensure a smooth and successful transition. “Moving to a new job can sometimes be nerve-racking. It's important to provide support because it helps boost confidence. All four of the graduates have been showing improvements in this area during their time with Westpac,” said Conor. To read more about Conor's story of leadership and professional growth, head to our blog: https://lnkd.in/gaqGmVxq Let’s continue working together to create opportunities for people with disability to thrive in leadership roles.
