About us
Karabena Consulting delivers two key programs to benefit Australia’s First Peoples. Educational and organisational support for professionals working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Quality consultancy services that assist community people, policy makers, practitioners and researchers close the gap in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s health inequality. Our approach We pride ourselves on our ability to connect organisations needing insight, expertise and skills with the knowledge, capabilities and partnerships needed to be effective. Our work is ambitious, independent, rigorous and culturally safe. Our objectives While our focus is on generating outcomes unique to each project, our core objectives are: 1. To enhance and promote opportunities for Australia’s First Peoples. 2. To address root causes of social and environmental inequity. 3. To promote narratives and practices that positively impact environmental health and our wellbeing. These objectives encourage our team to take a ‘quality over quantity’ approach in developing our programs and foster a deep commitment to achieving project goals on behalf our clients.

However you choose to mark the holiday period, it is a wonderful opportunity to pause, reflect on the year that’s been, embrace the festive season, and rejuvenate for the year to come. Self-care is a priority for us at the Karabena Group. It is central to our work, as evidenced in our four-day work week policy. Self-care practices ensure we are always at our best for ourselves, our colleagues, our community, and the loved ones in our lives. We’ll be taking some time over the next couple of weeks to fill up our cups. Our team members have shared their tips for practising self-care and what they’ll be getting up to over the break. From the practical to the philosophical, our team has some top tips for making the most of the end to 2024, and springboard into 2025. Read more at https://lnkd.in/g88whqdK

“None of us can do it alone” – Monica Kelly (State Wellbeing Promotion Advisor and Executive Director Wellbeing Promotion Office) This simple yet powerful remark, delivered during the opening of Victoria’s Wellbeing Promotion Symposium on Friday 29th November (which I was honoured to attend alongside Kerry Arabena, who was emceeing the event), has resonated with me over the past few days. "As I stand among the 2024 Kinaway Victorian Aboriginal Business Awards nominees, I reflect on the trajectory of Karabena Consulting. This recognition signifies far more than a milestone; it acknowledges the endurance, shared vision, and purpose woven through the work we do. Karabena Consulting began in 2018, emerging from a time of personal reassessment when I left a full-time Professorial position."
