I landed in the world of ‘Tech’ by chance as I had a good ability to communicate business needs and articulate them to Technology teams. Technology permeates all we do every day and has exponentially grown throughout my 30+ year career. When I first considered joining KPMG, my background and aspirations seemed to align perfectly with what we offer, despite not being a SME in technology or having studied it formally. I saw the opportunity to articulate our goals clearly, outline who is accountable, and ensure we're all set up for success. What intrigued me was the pivotal role KPMG plays at the intersection of business and IT, emphasising how businesses can adopt new technologies effectively. Every day at KPMG, we solve problems, and I’ve found immense joy in this aspect. Whether your interest lies in numbers, security operations, or something else, the key is to find what you enjoy solving and delve deeper into that area. If you’re good at something, it’s probably because you enjoy it. At KPMG, I’ve discovered endless opportunities, especially if you're open to change. Every opportunity is a chance to learn, even if it doesn’t seem like a perfect fit initially. Embracing these opportunities with confidence, even when uncertain, can lead to significant growth and learning. For those contemplating what is next, the tech landscape here is vast and integral to everything we do. You don’t need to be an SME; you can be a leader, team player, or data enthusiast. Whether you’re interested in data management, security operations, AI, or cyber, the possibilities are endless, and you don’t need to be an expert in just one field. Stay open to change, walk through doors that open for you. KPMG is a place where you can truly redefine your career path, find what you enjoy, and continuously learn. Digital inclusion is critical for young people’s learning. Families across Australia are finding it harder to afford laptops for their children’s education. Through KPMG’s Laptops for Lifelong Learning program, we're proud to have provided 1,000 refurbished laptops and personalised digital training to 1,000 high school students in collaboration with social enterprise WorkVentures. A big thank you to our community partners ABCN, Jawun and Ourschool for connecting us with these students and to HP for donating 250 HP ProBooks to this program. https://lnkd.in/gbVcAziY

I have a Commerce degree and a civil engineering masters, but I didn't plan to go into engineering. When I looked at jobs, I thought I could simply apply the problem-solving skills my degrees had given me to anything. So, I started as a vacationer in an operational supply chain team and then got a graduate job in the same team. But things have a funny way of working out in life I've found. Just after I started the graduate role, I was asked if I wanted to be part of a new engineering team they were building. At the time, there wasn't an engineering practice at KPMG. I accepted and have been here for eight years as the practice has grown and our services have expanded. I've been working with a lot of the same people since those early days, learning from and with them. A lot of the time, we were working on projects that were the first of their kind for KPMG and I've appreciated the opportunities to learn and challenge myself. I've focussed on project management and that has recently become its own service line which is pretty exciting that it is now a stand-alone service considering where we started! I've progressed from graduate through a few levels and now I'm a manager. Because I'm quite driven, I've always been looking to advance my career and my managers have had clear conversations with me about what the expectations are to be able to progress - what I need to demonstrate to be promoted, like cementing a certain skill. Their opinions have always turned out to be right and I trust their advice - it has led me to where I am today which is a great spot! Applications for our graduate and vacationer programs are now open. https://lnkd.in/gS-nwRVr
