💡#RESEARCH💡 #PlaceBasedInitiatives can drive more #EquitableOutcomes for children and families by collecting and using consistent lead indicators for early years services – find out how 📄 https://bit.ly/41EHUdn   Most place-based initiative measurement frameworks rely heavily on outcome or ‘lag’ indicators. While necessary for evaluating population-level progress, lag indicators are insufficient for timely and effective changes on the ground. The long delay – sometimes years – between action and outcome measurement makes it nearly impossible to determine if actions are effective in real time.   In contrast, #LeadIndicators including service quality, quantity and participation are a valuable tool for… ✨ understanding the issues ✨ determining priorities ✨ setting actions ✨ supporting accountability ✨guiding timely quality improvement efforts. 💡Read about lead indicators, barriers and enablers to support their collection and use and implications for policy and practice in this new #RestackingTheOdds 📈 (#RSTO) research snapshot 📝 https://bit.ly/41EHUdn   💡In our recent #webinar, early years services around Australia discussed how they use lead indicators to drive equitable outcomes in their communities. • 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 Grace Sholl – 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 and 𝗦𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 Grace is a proud member of 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗻’𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗼-𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 and a dedicated community member who understands the power of early connections. In this video, Grace shares how small, everyday actions - like spending time with children, playing, and fostering relationships—can have profound, long-term impacts on their ability to learn, grow, and thrive. As Grace beautifully puts it, early brain building isn’t just about academic milestones. It’s about creating environments that nurture emotional, social, and developmental growth - giving children the foundation they need for a brighter future. The Brain Building for Better Futures initiative was developed in response to Logan’s parents and carers asking for a deeper understanding of Early Childhood Development. Together, common language and practices that unite families, communities, and professionals is being built for the collective wellbeing of Logan’s children. Thank you, Grace, for your passion and dedication to the #LoganTogether movement! ➡️ Read more about the Brain Building for Better Futures project here: https://lnkd.in/gsCd6a6e Queensland Mental Health Commission, Thriving Queensland Kids Partnership, ARACY, Michelle Cole, Sophie Morson, Rowena Cann, Michelle Lucas, Shelley Gawronski, Jodie Booth

For primary schools where community hubs are based, hubs play an important role in building school capacity to respond to the needs of culturally diverse families, whether through running in-school activities like breakfast club and multicultural days, parents volunteering in the canteen, or by inviting organisations into the hub to support family needs. A recent example of this is the community hubs in Logan (Qld) bringing a nurse, speech therapist, and occupational therapist into each hub where parents learned more and could ask questions about their child’s development, including walking, talking, playing, toilet training, sleeping, and so much more. So far this year, hubs have made 3,269 referrals to local services that support families with maternal and child health, early intervention, community health, family support, and preschool. Hubs are the perfect space for conversations like these – they’re safe and welcoming, and have a real sense of belonging for everyone. #ConnectShareLearn SSI Photo: Parents learning about their child’s development with the support of a nurse, speech therapist, and occupational therapist at the hubs in Logan (Qld).
