About us
Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation is the heart of community giving in Greater Melbourne. Since 1923, over a century of generous donors has seen the Foundation grow to become Australia’s largest independent community foundation, working to create a more equitable, inclusive and climate-resilient future for all. Last financial year, close to $13 million in grants were made supporting innovative, replicable solutions to social issues across four Impact Areas: Homelessness & Affordable Housing; Inclusive, Sustainable Economy & Jobs; Healthy & Climate Resilient Communities; and, Generous Melbourne. The Foundation advocates a thriving charitable sector through its For Purpose Impact Accelerator Hub, as well as initiatives that encourage knowledge-sharing, collaboration, capacity-building and partnerships. As the community foundation for Greater Melbourne, Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation acknowledges the Wurundjeri and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands on which it operates. The Foundation is committed to a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) that encourages thoughtful and meaningful change. Join us in shaping the Melbourne of tomorrow: lmcf.org.au

Over the past decade, we have increased our granting in support of First Nations people from $161,000 in 2013 to $1.26 million in 2023. https://lnkd.in/gez_9qsQ The Foundation recognises that we live, play, and work on the lands of the world’s oldest living culture, and acknowledge this privilege and responsibility with respect, humility, and willingness to listen and learn. This year we have also continued our work on our ‘Reflect’ Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which will be launched next month.
