About us
The Mental Health Commission is responsible for planning and purchasing mental health, alcohol and other drug services in Western Australia. We do not provide direct mental health services, but purchase services for the state from a range of providers, including public Health Service Providers, a wide range of non-government organisations and private services. On 1 July 2024, the Mental Health Commission (the Commission) launched a dedicated Office of Alcohol and Other Drugs as part of a broader package of reforms to strengthen and elevate alcohol and other drugs governance in Western Australia. The Office of Alcohol and Other Drugs (the Office) is responsible for informing, developing, and overseeing the State Government’s alcohol and other drugs strategy and system-wide strategic policy reform, to achieve better outcomes for the Western Australian community. Our Vision is for Western Australians to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

Yesterday Mental Health Commissioner Maureen Lewis headed north to attend the ACHSM WA Port Hedland Regional Conference. The Commissioner shared some of the incredible programs implemented by the Mental Health Commission across the Pilbara region. It was also a great opportunity to discuss the future of mental health, alcohol and other drugs in the region. This included opportunities the Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Strategy 2025-2030 will bring to the Pilbara. Thank you to everyone who attended!
