Today we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On this day each year Presentation Sisters across the world celebrate the feast day of the Presentation of Mary at the temple. This day commemorates the presentation of the Blessed Virgin as a child by her parents in the Temple in Jerusalem. Before Mary's birth, her parents received a heavenly message that they would bear a child. In thanksgiving for the God's gift of Mary's birth, they brought her to the Temple to consecrate their only daughter to The Lord. The Mercy Partners Boards, Stewards, Committee members and staff gathered together on Wednesday, 13 November to celebrate Christmas and give thanks and reflect on the work undertaken this year to contribute to the emergence of a world where the healing, liberating and life-giving mercy of God is experienced. Today we celebrate the sixteen year anniversary of Mercy Partners being granted canonical status as a Public Juridic Person by the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life on 17 November 2008.  Mercy Partners was established by the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of Brisbane, the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of Cairns, the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of Rockhampton and the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of Townsville to succeed to, and to carry on their aged care, community services, disability services, education, health and social enterprise ministries.

Today we celebrate the first anniversary of Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College being entrusted to the care of Mercy Partners by the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney. Monte has been educating young women since 1875 and spires its students to act with courage, and compassion towards discerning action for justice; to live their lives with humility and kindness, unequivocal about welcome all people with respect.
