About us
Mental Illness Education ACT Inc (MIEACT) is the leading mental health and well-being education provider servicing the Canberra region. Our mission is to reduce stigma and discrimination, increase knowledge and awareness, and build inclusive practices for healthy workplaces and educational institutions through the delivery of evidence-based education and training programs. At the core of our programs is lived experience. These personal stories shared by our Volunteer Educators are crafted to include messages of hope, recovery and help-seeking, and are refined through our ‘Do NO Harm’ framework to become a powerful educational tool that enriches both audiences and educators. This “Direct Positive Contact” between our audiences and our volunteer storytellers is recognised as the most effective way of reducing stigma, discrimination and unconscious bias that often surrounds mental illness.
