Last Friday, we attended The Architectural Symposium: An/Other City held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales on Gadigal Country. It was an inspiring deep dive into architecture’s role in decentralising future urban landscapes. The rise of remote work and ongoing housing shortages are driving a shift toward regional living and at Moir Studio, we’re exploring how innovative design and infrastructure can cultivate vibrant, resilient communities beyond our capital cities. The event highlighted the transformative power of architecture to adapt to societal change. We're excited to keep contributing to spaces that foster connection and resilience in this evolving landscape. #moirstudio #landscapearchitecture #architecturalsymposium #urbandesign #regionalliving #designspeaks #gadigal

We’re thrilled to unveil our first collaboration with Capital Corporation on the Lovedale Farm project, a transformative billion-dollar development that will redefine residential living and tourism in Hunter Valley Wine Country. Located on the lands of the Wonnarua people, we are deeply committed to honouring their rich heritage and enduring connection to this remarkable region. This visionary project seamlessly integrates best-practice urban design with an environmentally sustainable approach, creating a destination that celebrates the Hunter Valley’s natural beauty while fostering a thriving, connected community. At the heart of the 600-acre development lies what will is set to be one of Australia’s premier golf courses, designed by the renowned Darius Oliver. Inspired by the local landscape and character, the 18-hole championship course will harmonise with its surroundings, offering an experience unique to its environment. Lovedale Farm will feature; a 300-key resort and day spa, 500 residential homes and 140 apartments, and a vibrant dining precinct with over 50% of the site dedicated to green spaces, including bushland, parks, and water features. The project is set to inject approximately $302 million into the Cessnock economy and create around 1,250 local jobs, enhancing the region's identity and appeal for residents and visitors alike. We are excited to bring this vision to life and elevate the dynamic spirit of Hunter Valley Wine Country. #moirstudio #landscapearchitecture #landscapearchitect #landscapedesign #community #greenspace #openspace #lovedalefarms #captialcorporation #dariusoliver #wonnarua

Nothing brings the team closer than a bit of friendly competition! The Moir Studio crew traded design tools for bowling balls and hit the green up at Bar Beach. It didn’t take long to spot who were the seasoned pros and who were just in it for the laughs (and the beers!). Either way, it was a fantastic afternoon of bonding. Here’s to fostering creativity and camaraderie—on and off the field! #moirstudio #landscapearchitecture #landscapearchitect #teambuilding #lawnbowls #barbeachbowlingclub

Discover the stunning lunettes of Lake Mungo! This breathtaking view along the eroded dunes on the eastern edge of this ancient, dry lake bed was captured by our team while out in the field recently. Part of the Willandra Lakes UNESCO World Heritage Site, this landscape reveals over 40,000 years of history, where the winds have uncovered ancient burial sites, tools, and footprints from the Barkandji/Paakantyi, Mutthi Mutthi and Ngiyampaa people, the traditional custodians of the land. Mungo National Park is a hidden gem, offering a powerful connection to the past amidst the natural beauty of this captivating landscape. #moirstudio #landscapearchitecture #mungonationalpark #willandralakes #UNESCOworldheritagesite #fieldwork #australianoutback #nsw #barkandji #paakantyi #mutthimutthi #ngiyampaa

This week, we had the pleasure of hosting SESG for lunch in a dynamic knowledge-sharing session! We listened with interest to SESG's approach of integrating sustainable practices across business operations—driving credible transformation, adding value for both the business and its stakeholders, whilst supporting sustainable economic development. We shared our own sustainability insights, discussing our experiences of working on Country, our Visual Impact Assessment work in the renewables sector and our landscape led approach to Urban Design which is centred around the reinstatement of the Blue-Green grid. At Moir, we are always looking for ways we can enhance our offer by tapping into the diverse expertise of our local professional networks. Thank you, SESG, for an inspiring and insightful exchange! #moirstudio #landscapearchitecture #SESG #sustainability #renewableenergy #meetandgreet #workingoncountry

We are thrilled to announce that Moir Studio has been awarded a National Landscape Architecture Award in the Parks and Open Spaces category at the AILA National Awards for our Gabrugal Yana project! In partnership with the Western Sydney Parklands Trust, we developed the concept, detailed design and construction documentation for an 11 km trail, formerly known as Western Ridges Walk, across Dharug Country, connecting Wylde Mountain Bike Park to Cecil Hills through 390 hectares of bushland. The Award citation states; This well-executed endeavour marries conservation with visitor engagement. The project presents an eco-friendly design that incorporates innovative construction and strong First Nations involvement in the artwork. The design team have taken a “light touch” approach here with an overall design strategy that successfully preserves the project’s natural setting. The project features discreet, low-impact lookouts that offer expansive views but have a minimal ecological footprint. This approach supports the integrity of the site and enhances the visitor experience, providing an authentic connection to the place and its history. The project demonstrates leadership, achieves its expected sustainability outcomes, and enhances the liveability of the area while honouring Dharug heritage. Gabrugal Yana honours ancient pathways, minimising environmental impact using a 'light touch' to landscape interventions. The trail offers breathtaking views of Sydney and the Blue Mountains alongside Aboriginal artworks and cultural storytelling. It provides insights into Dharug seasons, flora, and fauna and creates a place for the community and tourists to enjoy. Gabrugal Yana is a celebration of sustainability and cultural heritage, honouring the land's beauty and the profound significance of Dharug Country. We would like to take the opportunity to thank all who have made this wonderful project possible including; • TYRRELLSTUDIO for identifying the project within the Western Sydney Parklands Master Plan. • JMD design for their instrumental role in the on site construction management City People People for curating the arts programme. • Dunnings Consulting Engineers for their innovative approach to design and l • @shaytobinart and Djon Mundine, supported by Tilt Industrial Design, for delivering the site-wide art strategy. • Daracon Group for their care and detail during construction and installation. • Greater Sydney Parklands for their unwavering vision and commitment to delivering an outstanding project. #moirstudio #landscapearchitecture #landscapearchitect #landscapearchitectureaustralia #ailaawards #ailanationalawards2024 #awards #gabrugalyana #westernridgeswalk #gandangara #darug #openspaces #publicdomain
