Complete the application to receive your free activation kit! 👉 Community groups and stall holders: A small number of market sites are available to promote your services or local products. Be quick. About us
Narrabri Shire is located in the north-west of New South Wales, in the Namoi Valley, with a current population of approximately 14,000 residents. Covering an area of approximately 13,000km2, the Shire includes the key towns of Narrabri, Boggabri and Wee Waa and the villages of Baan Baa, Bellata, Edgeroi, Gwabegar and Pilliga. Agriculture and the resource sector are key industries within Narrabri Shire, providing significant value to the economy as well as being major employers. Agricultural production incorporates a variety of crops including cotton, wheat, barley, oilseeds, grapes and peanuts with livestock production comprising of sheep, cattle and pigs. Narrabri Shire is within one of the largest coal reserves in NSW. This new industry has already resulted in a wealth of opportunity for both employment and anciliary business. These sectors will continue to play a key role in the economy in the future though the reliance on these sections underscores the importance of future diversification.

Thanks to funding from the New South Wales Government's 2024-25 Floodplain Management Program, Council will be undertaking a flood study for the Gwabegar area! 👏 The study will improve the general understanding of flood behaviour and impacts in the Gwabegar area and better inform management of flood risk. It will include data collection and review, community consultation, hydrologic and flood damage modelling, and benefit cost and management options assessments. 🚧 CULGOORA ROAD CLOSURE 🚧 Culgoora Road will be closed from Monday, 13 January for approximately 8 weeks to allow for the replacement of the floodway at Nuable Creek. Road users are recommended to use Yarrie Lake Road or Kamilaroi Highway to travel between Narrabri and Wee Waa during this time. Residents should have received a letter outlining further details regarding access to and from your properties during this time.
