Newtown Neighbourhood Centre is a local community centre in the heart of the Inner West of Sydney. We work primarily with people at risk of homelessness and social isolation. We provide spaces for community meetings and events, run Newtown market every Saturday, and the annual Newtown Festival.

Hello LinkedIn Universe, We are in search of some fantastic volunteers. Be a part of real, positive impact whilst building your skills and confidence as a member of the community. Roles taking expressions of interest include: 1. 'Newtopian' Outreachers: 1x 2 hr Wednesday night shift /month. Working as part of a highly skilled outreach team engaging with people sleeping rough. 2. Gardening Assistant: 3 hr approx / week, preferrably between the hours of 7-10am. Confidence and physical capacity to perform garden maintenance. 3. Social Support Groups Volunteer: Weekly 3hr shift on a set day. Deliver morning tea, games, speakers sessions, outings and other activities for the group 4. Drop-in Hub Volunteer: A weekly 3 hr shift (10am or 1pm start). Work as part of a highly skilled first-response team on site at NNC, helping folks access info about housing, food programs, legal aid, + other diverse needs. 5. Individual Social Support Volunteer: 2 hour approx. / week. A weekly or fortnightly social catchup - think coffee, walk, tea in the garden etc - whatever you both decide works for you. 6. Fundraising and Marketing Assistant: Weekly 4-6 hr shift / or project based. Assist with event planning, fundraising support and social media including honing your phone and audio/vis equipment skills. Tickets are going fast for our Heart & Bowl fundraiser on Friday 19th July at NNC Gadigal Hall. Each attendee will choose their own artisan bowl made by talented local potters from Clay Cartel, Clayground and Clay Sydney. The evening will include a delicious hearty meal from our friends at Two Good Inc, Parliament on King and Tokyo Lamington and beverages from Young Henry's. There will be chances to nab unique ceramic sculptural art, hear from NNC frontline workers and support rough sleepers in the Inner West.
