Not a challenge but an #Opportunity. Our co-founder Rainer Knobloch described the comparative advantages in sustainable freight & the energy transition. that Australia possesses at the recent iMOVE Australia 'Our Future Freight' event in Brisbane at QUT (Queensland University of Technology). We do believe that Australia is uniquely positioned to capture advantage from this transition. We should be reframing sustainable freight as an opportunity in every aspect. NewVolt were delight at the feedback from the audience & collaborators from our keynote, and happy to support Ian Christensen, Hadi Ghaderi, Jacqueline King, Lee-Ann Breger and the iMove team with the great event & fantastic discussion. #sustainablefreight #electrictrucks #zeroemissions

Regional development of charging infrastructure in Australia is crucial to our pathway to lowering emissions in the transport sector. We believe that regional Australia stands to gain much from the transition, and can play a leading role. NewVolt was proud to support it's collaborators and partners Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise | Queensland Transport and Logistics Council | MOV3MENT at the recent Drive the Change event in Toowoomba. The event was fantastically supported by industry leaders and regional parties alike. Our co-founder Rainer Knobloch was on site for the day, and as a Toowoomba native, was proud to see the discussion and demonstration of practical solutions for low and zero emission vehicles for the sector. With Charlton and the downs on NewVolt's radar for a national network, we look forward to continuing to collaborate with TSBE and QTLC on what we can achieve. Since the start of 2024, Australia has seen 92 fatalities involving heavy vehicles, with two thirds of these incidents occurring in rural and regional areas. #NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto OAM joined Australian Road Safety Foundation CEO, Russell White, on WIN Television to remind drivers to take extra caution when travelling on country roads, especially around heavy vehicles. This #RuralRoadSafetyMonth, the #NHVR also reminds the heavy vehicle industry that driving on rural and regional roads comes with unique challenges and risks - speed limits are greater, roads may be unsealed and there can be more environmental challenges such as animals or visual obstructions. Please ensure you are taking steps to ensure maximum safety for your drivers on the road. Watch the segment below 👇 Please share this with your network to help us spread the safety message further 🚚

NewVolt are proud to be working with the NTRO - National Transport Research Organisation to support the creation of a sustainable market for zero emission freight in Australia. Whilst battery electric truck technology has arrived, in Australia we must establish the foundation to support the update of this technology. NewVolt believes this requires more than just infrastructure. We believe this foundation MUST exist, so that when the economic tipping point arrives, or regulation requests it, the barriers are already removed and the update of ZEVs is accelerated. Anchoring the geography not simply in a single site or beneficiary is critical. Our goal to develop a national network for electric truck charging includes Melbourne, where we are laser focused on developing sites in the inner west, north and south east. We look forward to collaborating with Michael Caltabiano and his team at the NTRO on a number of key initiatives. Anthony Headlam | Rainer Knobloch | Martin Toomey (MAICD) | James Mackie (GAICD)
NTRO is proud to be working with NewVolt to help fast-track Australia’s transition to electric trucks on our freight network. Respective company CEOs Michael Caltabiano (NTRO) and Anthony Headlam (NewVolt) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for us both to work together on projects to redefine logistics and decarbonise freight transport. The partnership with NewVolt will bring the skills and experience of NTRO into the development of a network of integrated charging facilities for electric trucks, starting in Victoria. This infrastructure will be a foundation for a transition to lower emissions freight and enable fleets seeking to go electric to access reliable, scheduled fast charging powered by renewable energy. The collaboration between NewVolt and NTRO includes supporting the creation of a platform of electric truck data which will be powered by NTRO to help inform the transport industry with respect to the use cases, efficiency, and effectiveness of BEV technology for different aspects of the freight task. Mr Caltabiano said: “The vehicle fleet is increasingly becoming available in the market but the missing link is the rapid charging capacity to enable industry to make the investment decision to adopt that technology. “NTRO will be working with NewVolt and NewVolt’s partners to create the data hub to support the charging environment and provide detailed guidance to the government and the industry users on performance of the charging environment to optimise the delivery outcomes for different use cases.” This data will be a pathway for the collaborative engagement with Government and industry on the challenges to transition the freight task in a pragmatic and sensible fashion to a lower emissions platform. Mr Headlam said: “NewVolt is delighted to be working with NTRO as such a trusted partner to both governments and industry. “The NewVolt Network is a foundation to support the industry not only in terms of access to fast charging but, more broadly, to foster knowledge and understanding that is critical to enable the industry to understand capabilities see the benefits of the technology. Our partnership with the NTRO will help us connect more widely with industry whilst bringing integrity and research rigour to the discussions.” You can find out more about NewVolt and its work in this space here https://hubs.li/Q02NgDPh0 Rainer Knobloch David Green Dr Charles A. NewVolt recently provided a submission to the Australian Federal Government's Transport & Infrastructure Net Zero Consultation Roadmap. -- Read our full submission here: https://bit.ly/3YM7Cv5 -- A summary extract is below: ---------------------------- NewVolt believes that a fast-charging network dedicated to electric trucks covering Australia’s major road freight routes and at critical transport nodes is a necessary activator for the industry transition. The development of charging infrastructure, together with other supportive policies, will give OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) the confidence to bring electric models to the Australian market and to give freight operators the confidence to invest in electric alternatives. NewVolt is developing that network. Government can support the investment and deployment of such infrastructure through policy settings that show a clear intention to support uptake of electrified road freight over the short, medium and long term. KEY POINTS / SUMMARY: -- Decarbonisation of the road freight industry requires a sector specific solution distinct from policy settings applied to support decarbonisation of passenger vehicles. -- The best pathway for heavy vehicles for the vast majority of Australia’s freight task is battery electric. The technology already exists and is getting better. -- Australia is uniquely positioned to benefit enormously from electrified road freight thanks to our low-cost renewable energy resources and concentrated freight networks. -- The transition to electrified road freight will reduce Australia’s dependence on price-volatile imported fuels and facilitate a step-change in Australia’s fuel and supply chain security. -- Lower cost freight through electrified trucking will result in economy-wide cost savings on domestically consumed goods and provide a competitive advantage to Australian exporters, particularly in the context of global carbon border tariffs, such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM -- The accelerated replacement of Australia’s ageing diesel trucks, which have an average age of 15 years, with electric trucks will generate significant cuts to Australia’s emissions whilst also supporting new jobs in Australia’s trucking industry. -- Policies to address the equity issues that will otherwise arise during the transition, particularly for small fleet operators, need to be considered upfront (e.g. to help support low cost financing of zero emission trucks). -- Recognising that strategic alignment between high levels of electric truck uptake, and other industries, could result in additional jobs in new industries such as critical minerals refining, battery production, and battery recycling. -- Open access truck charging infrastructure is a critical enabler of the electrification of road freight. Providing clear market signals and sector specific targets, provides greater certainty for investment in such infrastructure.
