Leadership in Precincts & Cities: Biodiversity, Sustainability, Urban Design & Landscape Architecture

After 3 awesome years of leading the Aurecon Integrated Design team in Queensland I am happy to announce that I have taken on a "passion project" in a new role with NGH in the Biodiversity space. NGH has a long history of sustainability, biodiversity and cultural heritage integration in projects - particularly in the Renewable Energy space and I am excited to help bring this thinking to a broader range of projects. I am also actively talking to potential partners on this journey with the end goal of embedding biodiversity-positive outcomes in all projects. Watch this space in the new year for more details! #biodiversity #renewables #design

We’re incredibly proud to have supported the Newstead Solar Farm project from its inception to energisation. Partnering with Renewable Newstead, a passionate community group, through the planning and engagement process and seeing the project come to life has been truly rewarding. Being recognised with a Commendation in the Climate Change and Resilience category at the Victorian Planning Institute of Australia – Planning for Excellence Awards is an absolute honour. Congrats Fi Cotter! Learn more about this unique community solar farm - https://lnkd.in/giRV6G9y #CommunityRenewables #PIAAwards #NGH

Heritage sites are more widespread than many realise and overlooking them can have serious consequences.  Did you know that during a Heritage Due Diligence assessment, you might uncover ancient stone tools, culturally modified trees, or even hidden burial sites?  These discoveries don’t have to stop your project—archaeologists can help you find ways to proceed while preserving these significant cultural treasures.   NGH's Heritage Technical Director, Matthew Barber, explains the important role Heritage Due Diligence plays protecting both your project and our cultural legacy.  https://lnkd.in/et-JcJ6U #HeritageDueDiligence #AboriginalHeritage #NGH

NGH have worked on Bodangora Wind Farm and Suntop Solar Farm during the build, plus Wellington Solar Far for approvals. The Wellington centered RE projects will help power the Orana BESS that is currently under construction. It was great to see NGH projects powering the grid. #NGH, #catcon, #wellinton, #renewableenergy

    Director Rewewables at NGH

I am at the AllEnergy Australia conference in Melbourne this week. I just attended the Social Licence and Community Engagement session that included a presentation by Breannah Schubach NGH‘s Principal consultant in Communications and Engagement. Bree’s presentation focused on achieving best practice engagement with our First Nations people, emphasising the importance of engaging at a grass roots level. We need to listen, learn and very importantly act on our commitments when working with mob. In her presentation Bree emphasised the importance of designing benefit sharing schemes that meet both the priorities and aspirations of the local First Nations community with a goal of achieving great outcomes for this community. Bree also discussed the progressive nature of the renewable energy industry in Canada where the government there is supporting the First People’s become owners of new energy infrastructure and is providing $300M in funds to achieve this. A great example for how our nation could move forward. #renewableenergy #AllEnergyAU

Will you be at Meeting of the Mines in Cloncurry, 11-13 September 2024? This three-day industry conference will focus on challenges and opportunities facing future mining projects in the region. Research experts, industry partners, and government bodies will converge to explore the latest developments in the mining industry. Tara Beazley will share insights on navigating regulatory challenges, drawing from her experience working within the North-West Minerals Province having served as a DESI Environmental Compliance Officer, and as an Environmental Advisor at a mineral mine.  Now working as a consultant, Tara has a comprehensive view of the three critical 'arms' - compliance, industry, and consulting - that must work together to achieve both environmental protection and economic growth.  ‘By aligning these perspectives, we can overcome challenges and unlock opportunities for our region's future’ says Tara, NGH’s Regional Manager, Biodiversity NQ. The NGH team is looking forward to continuing the conversation and driving sustainable outcomes for North Queensland! 🌱⚙️ For more detail on the program - https://lnkd.in/eeGPaYiD    #SustainableDevelopment   #NorthQueensland   #NGH
