Key Account Manager - Government + Education

Yesterday I attended a "Presenting with Confidence" workshop at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney. Presenting isn't a new thing for me given it's part of the day job and with plenty of speaking events under my belt over the last few years, however i was blown away when it came to learning from a trained actor around how to present more confidently. Our group was made up of people from Architecture, Science, Technology and Higher Education with varying levels of competency when it came to Presenting. My key takeaways from the day: - Think/Feel/See/Do - when you see people present how does it make you feel and think, what does it make you want to do, what do you actually see? - Breathing - I've done box breathing before but it was so interesting to see the difference in presenting when breathing correctly. - Powerpauses - something I can definitely work on - Body Language - has a huge effect on what people think of your presentation - i learnt i shuffle my feet when i present for example! - Rehearsing - professional actors do it yet it's overlooked a lot in the Corporate world. - It is possible to turn your inner critic off! - "One breath, one sentence, one human" - "Don't build me a clock, just tell me the time" Above all it was a really fun day, great to connect with other people and learn from a trained professional. Would highly recommend it to anyone else that presents within a Corporate organisation. Thank you Terri Martin for arranging everything!
