  • Having your workplace be a multi-generational playground is the key to success, but let's focus on the Gen Z's for a second. 🛝 As highlighted by Amy Panton 🥽 Head of Learning and Development at Eight Recruitment 🐾 , Gen Z is reshaping the future of work with fresh perspectives. Their focus on meaningful work, ethical employers, and tech-savvy efficiency sets them apart. 🌍 “Different is good,” as Amy says, and Gen Z’s thoughtful, intelligent approach is invaluable in today’s evolving workplace. Embracing these differences helps us harness the incredible potential they bring. At Prologue by NIDA, we believe in equipping all generations with the skills to communicate effectively across these generational divides. Our Act Natural course is designed to enhance interpersonal skills and foster a deeper understanding of how different perspectives can drive innovation and growth. Because in a world where communication styles differ, learning to adapt and connect is key to success. 🧩 What superpowers do you think Gen Z’s bring to our workplace? #GenZ #FutureOfWork #WorkplaceCulture #LearningAndDevelopment #Leadership #Innovation #Diversity

I think I’m an open minded person but I’ll admit I used to be a little sceptical about Gen Z’s. Their motivations and work ethic are different to mine. But then, doesn’t every Generation call the next one coming through difficult and, dare I say entitled 🙊 I attended the UoN Industry Open Day a few weeks back, along with the talented Kate Cruickshank 💡, a Gen Z herself. We heard about how to attract and work with Gen Z, how they will shape the workplace. It was eye opening and with an almost 17 year old in the house it’s good timing for me. Fun fact: Gen Z will soon surpass Millennials as the most populous generation on Earth 🌏 My biggest takeaways from the day; * Gen Z are focussed on their impact and doing meaningful work rather than simply showing up to make a buck – I found this somewhat surprising given the financial challenges we currently all face. * They will seek out an employer with good ethics and social awareness. * They want to be heard, they want to progress and are, * The true digital natives meaning they have high expectations for tech in the workplace and it creating efficiencies. They may be different to us Millennials (yes, I just squeeze into that Generation, 1983 baby 🤘) but they are kind, thoughtful and intelligent. And different is good. It’s refreshing to understand the motivations of others and to all the Gen Z’s reading this, the babies born now are called Generation Alpha, brace yourselves. 😉

  • In the realm of personal and professional growth, criticism is inevitable. But knowing how to learn and grow from that criticism is another matter, and it is not usually included in our starter pack on orientation day 🤷🤷 We were having a Sunday scroll when we stumbled upon a great article shared by the National Learning and Development Manager of Anytime Fitness Rachel Kalwy. It was a Harvard Business Review article delving into the art of finding coaching within criticism by Sheila Heen and Douglas Stone. This piece unpacked how feedback, even when tough, can be a cornerstone for development. ... and as a team that has learning and development for breakfast, we couldn’t click on it fast enough. What jumped off the page at us and reinstated the desperate need for further L&D in the workplace was that 👇: 55% of employees said their most recent performance review had been unfair or inaccurate, although when senior HR executives were asked about their biggest performance management challenge, 63% cited managers’ inability or unwillingness to have difficult feedback discussions. Communication and development breakdown much? At Prologue by NIDA, we believe in the power of feedback to foster personal and professional growth. Our debut Communication course is designed to enhance people skills, making it easier to give and receive constructive feedback effectively. The article goes a step further and shares with us the Six Steps to Becoming a Better Receiver: 👉 Know your tendencies 👉 Disentangle the “what” from the “who” 👉 Sort toward coaching 👉Unpack the feedback 👉Ask for just one thing 👉Engage in small experiments Read the full article and delve into the six steps to becoming a better receiver of feedback below: https://lnkd.in/gigPHSPW #ProfessionalDevelopment #Feedback #GrowthMindset #LearningAndDevelopment #Coaching #CareerGrowth #ActNatural #PrologueByNIDA

  • In the words of a beloved teen sitcom, Hannah Montana: You get the best of both worlds. ...and in this case, we mean when digital meets tangible. 📚💻 At Prologue by NIDA, we believe in fostering learning in a way that works. That's why Act Natural, our flagship course, combines both digital and tangible elements to create an immersive and effective learning experience. Why this dynamic duo works: 👀 Enhanced Engagement: By integrating digital content with physical materials and infusing it all with fun, we have created a unique self-directed learning program that is more engaging and enjoyable. Reducing learning fatigue to improve engagement. 🧠 Better Retention: Studies show that using a mix of digital and tangible resources can enhance the learning experience. According to research from Frontiers in Psychology, learners who engage in these blended learning methods see better learning outcomes and a deeper understanding of the material. 👉 Interactive Learning: Digital platforms offer interactive elements such as videos, quizzes, and real-time feedback, while tangible materials provide a hands-on approach that reinforces these digital lessons. This synergy helps solidify learning in a practical and memorable way. 🌏 Accessibility and Flexibility: The digital component allows learners to access content anytime and anywhere, while tangible materials offer a break from screen time and a chance to engage with the material in a more tactile way. This flexibility supports continuous learning, no matter where you are. By blending the best of both worlds, Act Natural ensures that learners not only acquire knowledge but also apply it effectively in their personal and professional lives. • 🧑💻 How we can support our virtual worker’s wellbeing 🧑💻 As remote work continues to be a significant part of the modern workplace, ensuring the well-being of remote employees has become a crucial focus for our leaders - and yes, it extends further than a curated meme into the team chat to lift that team morale. Today, we wanted to share a recent Forbes article by Julian Hayes II, which reveals three critical factors to consider in supporting our remote workers: 🧠 Leveraging Technology, in particular, learning the art of AI, 👏 Redefining And Expanding Workplace Health: Standing desk and a houseplant, anyone? ... and last, but in the grand scheme of things, definitely not least: 👥 Focusing On Communication, Connectivity, and Culture (The 3 C’s); a Prologue speciality. To channel in on the power trio of the 3 C’s, writer Julian Hayes II shares that over 82% of the workforce is at risk of burnout, and CEOs must keep a steady pulse on their employees! The time for effective and consistent communication, genuine connectivity and a culture of growth and positivity is now. At Prologue by NIDA, we understand the extended challenges associated with communication and remote work. By focusing on areas such as self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and effective communication, Act Natural by Prologue helps foster not only in-person dynamics but also strong on-screen interactions. Our multi-platform approach to learning ensures remote teams can fully benefit from Act Natural, without being tied to the office. The course games and exercises encourage you to interact with people IRL, from chatting with the local barista to a catchup with friends, supporting you to practice face to face communication whenever you can. ☕ The course also gives opportunities for team catch-ups (online or off!), enabling teams anywhere to complete the course together and find points of personal connection. Hayes highlights the need for frequent mentorship and personal development, and although we may be slightly swayed here, we believe this to be a vital component of any worker's well-being. Tune into the full article here and discover how to best support your remote team👇: https://lnkd.in/gjf7cUfC

  • Bending our arms backwards and bridging this soft skills gap - one aesthetically-pleasing purple professional development course at a time. 👏 Just ask around, and you’ll hear it from your peers - the gap in soft skills is becoming increasingly apparent, both within our office walls and in our day-to-day lives. Soft skills like communication, teamwork, and emotional intelligence are essential for effective leadership and collaboration, yet many people lack knowledge in these areas. A study by Harvard University, the Carnegie Foundation, and Stanford Research Center* concluded that 👉85%👈 of job success comes from having well-developed soft skills, while only 15% is attributed to technical skills. Despite these in your face figures, many organisations are still really struggling to find and nurture these crucial soft skills. To throw some more research your way, according to the National Soft Skills Association, *91% of organisations want more soft skills training, yet 81% find it challenging to hire talent with these skills. This discrepancy screams out the urgent need for better training and development programs focused on soft skills. Now that we’ve pulled out the stats and got your attention... let us share a few key starter strategies we can implement to help bridge this gap: 🔁 Invest in Continuous Learning: Organisations must prioritise ongoing training and development programs that focus on people skills. Effective communication is a team sport - it’s not something you ‘attain’ - it’s something you continuously practice. 💬 Promote a Culture of Feedback: Encourage a work environment where constructive feedback is regularly shared, helping employees grow and improve. 🗣️ Lead by Example: Managers and leaders should model strong, soft skills, demonstrating their importance through their actions. At Prologue by NIDA, we recognise the critical role of soft skills in today's world. Our courses are designed to help individuals develop these essential abilities, ensuring they are well-equipped to navigate both professional and personal challenges. 📍 https://lnkd.in/gzE2hHvh 📍 #SoftSkills #ProfessionalDevelopment #WorkplaceSkills #CareerGrowth #LearningAndDevelopment #Leadership #Teamwork #EmotionalIntelligence #PrologueByNIDA *National Soft Skills Association.
