About us

Open all year round, Nitmiluk Gorge features some of the most stunning gorge scenery in the Northern Territory, with raging waterfalls, a myriad of wildlife and breathtaking views of the Jawoyn country. Nitmiluk Gorge winds along 12km of sheer rock extending more than 70m high. Consisting of 13 seperate gorges, Nitmiluk Gorge is a maze of waterways sculpted from the sandstone over countless millennia by the Katherine River. More than a location of beautiful landscapes, the gorges hold great cultural value for the Jawoyn people. For these traditional owners, Nitmiluk refers to a cicada dreaming place – the place where the spirits of creation abide. Nitmiluk Tours is the specialist agent offering a great variety of tours and accommodation that allow you to immerse yourself in the history, rugged beauty and culture of this majestic region. Cruise, canoe, walk, fly, swim, and embrace Nitmiluk Gorge. Cicada Lodge, a private sanctuary from which to embrace the ancient landscapes and Indigenous culture within the iconic Nitmiluk National Park. Cicada Lodge is designed for the sophisticated traveller looking for an authentic Indigenous and natural Australian “experience-of-a-lifetime,” in the heart of Northern Australia’s Timeless North. A sanctuary of elegant comfort, the Lodge provides a level of excellence in accommodation, service and dining. Winner of Silver - Luxury Accommodation - QANTAS Australian Tourism Awards 2017.

Acting General Manager (Business and Regions) Department of Trade, Business and Asian Relations, Northern Territory Government

I’m happy to share that I’ll be the Acting General Manager (Business and Regions) until early 2025 in the Department of Trade Business and Asian Relations , Northern Territory Government!

  • Proud to share that we’ve been recognised as the Most Improved Business within the Quality Tourism Framework at this year’s Tourism Top End General Meeting. This year has been a huge one for us as we’ve worked to elevate our offerings and align with industry best practices. We added Sustainable Tourism and EcoStar accreditations, expanded our International Trade and Online Distribution, accredited our Visitor Information Centre, and are thrilled to have made the 2024 Gold List for our Cabins. The Quality Tourism Framework has been a game-changer for us, setting a benchmark that challenges businesses to lift their standards across every area of operation. It’s not just a certificate—it’s about consistently delivering exceptional experiences to visitors, supporting regional tourism, and ensuring sustainable growth. A big shout out to Aron Falletto, our Sales and Marketing Coordinator, for leading the charge on this initiative, and to our Operations Manager, Salil Salim, for their invaluable support in bringing it all together. It’s been a team effort, and the recognition is well deserved. Here’s to keeping the momentum going and continuing to set the bar even higher in 2025!

  • Nitmiluk Tours and Cicada Lodge were honoured to receive the Brolga Award for Tourism Restaurant and Catering Services at the recent Northern Territory Tourism Awards. There’s so much that goes into an award like this. On the night, we were proud to be represented by Jawoyn Board members, NT Parks (our co-managers of the National Park), and some young Jawoyn leaders. But the success of Nitmiluk comes from a much larger team. Across the Jawoyn Association, we have around 270 employees, making us the second-largest employer in the Big Rivers region after the government. At any given time, Nitmiluk alone has over 120 employees. This is a huge team effort, and the impact goes far beyond an award. A proportion of every dollar spent at Nitmiluk is reinvested into supporting the 10 Jawoyn communities across Big Rivers. This economic model reflects the Jawoyn vision of creating sustainable improvements in economic, social, cultural, health, and education outcomes—enhancing the quality of life for our people. We want to extend a special thanks to all the individuals and organisations who have supported us in achieving these goals. The model works, and we’re always open to sharing our approach with other Aboriginal organisations striving to improve outcomes for their communities.
