About us
NORSTA Maritime (NORSTA) is currently providing ship maintenance services as the Regional Maintenance Provider North East and the Regional Maintenance Provider North for the Royal Australian Navy as detailed in the Navy’s Plan Gallileo. Our focus is on managing and coordinating suppliers and local workforce to deliver a multi-year maritime sustainment and maintenance support program on behalf of the Royal Australian Navy. To support this work, NORSTA is working with the local community to source and build local industry capability. We need a strong and growing local industry to support the maintenance of visiting Naval ships iin the Cairns and Darwin regions. A local workforce with the right skills is required to support the servicing of modern classes of ships and growing fleet size with cutting-edge technology. Our advanced maritime sustainment planning will coordinate fleet maintenance at scale across Far North Queensland and Darwin and adjacent waters. We will be working with local suppliers to schedule major and minor works for many vessels through each year of the program.

🏋♂️ Lots of heavy lifting happening at the waterfront thanks to this new 3.5 Tonne Forklift that arrived onsite this week. At NORSTA we are proud to be supplying top-quality 2.5T and 3.5T forklifts to support critical operations at the Naval base. These machines will commonly be seen moving large, heavy or awkward items such as shafts, roll fins, rib boats or life rafts. This powerful addition to our waterfront team is set to enhance our efficiency and elevate the safety and operations of our maintenance contractors and team. Huge shoutout to all of our incredible team and valued partners that effectively use the machinery provided to keep our operations running smoothly — check out those thumbs up! #HeavyLifting #NORSTA

NORSTA is incredibly proud to support veteran and reserve employment in our teams. We recently had the opportunity as part of the ADF Reserves and Employer Support immersion day at RAAF Edinburgh to join other like-minded organisations interacting with some of the great people and facilities that Defence have to offer. The day was finished off with the #EmployerSupportAwards which saw a strong showing by the NT with 3 of the 6 national categories won by respectively, We Fix IT, NT Gov (Alice Springs Hospital) and the Patrol Boat Group. Alongside a commendation for our local ADFRES representative and an honorable mention for St Joseph's Catholic College (Katherine).

Austal Australia has delivered the eighth of ten Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boats (ECCPB’s) under contract to the Royal Australian Navy. The vessel, ADV Cape Schanck (313), is the eighth ECCPB to be constructed and delivered from Austal’s Henderson, Western Australia shipyard in four and half years. Austal Limited Chief Executive Officer Paddy Gregg said Cape Schanck highlights Western Australia’s naval shipbuilding capability, productivity and reliability, and Austal Australia’s successful collaboration with industry and project partners to deliver eight patrol boats in four and half years. “Austal Australia, with the help of our valued supply chain, industry and project partners, have now delivered eight Evolved Capes to the Royal Australian Navy in just four and half years. That’s an outstanding track record of productivity, with one 58 metre patrol boat delivered (on average) every 6 to 7 months, Mr Gregg said. “We were awarded the Evolved Capes contract in May 2020 and now, less than 5 years later, we have delivered eight boats, despite the challenges of the COVID pandemic and in addition to the (now) 24 Guardian-class Patrol Boats we’re also delivering to Defence Australia. “The Western Australian naval shipbuilding industry should be incredibly proud of this impressive performance, which clearly demonstrates the Henderson Defence Precinct’s capability, productivity, and reliability. Austal Australia, and our 200+ supply chain partners are successfully contributing to the National Naval Shipbuilding Enterprise and Australia’s sovereign capability through the delivery of the Evolved Cape-class Patrol Boat Project." “Our congratulations to the Royal Australian Navy on the delivery of ADV Cape Schanck and sincere thanks to the Austal Australia team, the Department of Defence and our supply chain partners in Western Australia and across the country, for their continued support.” Learn more at https://lnkd.in/g7MA-iaY #austal #austalaustralia #ausnavy #evolvedcapeclass #patrolboats #defence #defenceindustry #hendersondefenceprecinct #westernaustralia #sovereigncapability
