This is a 3D-printed model of a child's skull, made by UNSW Tyree Foundation Institute of Health Engineering researchers and used by surgeons to help remove a life-threatening tumour. It's anatomically correct, colour-coded and allowed surgeons to not only plan the procedure in a new and safe way, but also explain to the child's parents what they were doing to keep them at ease.
