This week, ATCO Australia, GE Vernova and the South Australia Government announced that GE Vernova will supply the LM6000 gas turbine to power the Whyalla Hydrogen Power Plant. It’s expected to be the first aeroderivative turbine capable of operating on 100 per cent renewable hydrogen. The official announcement was made this week at the Australian Pavilion in Baku, Azerbaijan as part of the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference. ATCO is actively developing hydrogen projects globally and has been selected by the South Australian Government as one of the key preferred partners for the design of what will be the world’s biggest hydrogen power station, in Whyalla, South Australia. 🌿✈️ South Australia could become home to a new low-carbon aviation fuel production facility! Whyalla is soaring to new heights in the global green transition with a bold new initiative to produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Energy company Zero®, with support from the SA Government, is exploring the development of 'Plant Zero.SA', a facility capable of producing up to 10 million litres of synthetic aviation fuel, gasoline, and diesel annually. This is part of a feasibility study involving key partners such as Qantas and Adelaide Airport Limited, positioning Whyalla as a global leader in the transition to sustainable fuels.  By combining renewable hydrogen with carbon dioxide, #ZeroPetroleum’s synthetic fuel technology provides a low-carbon alternative compatible with existing aircraft, vehicles, and maritime applications.
