Talk about innovation – check out one of our latest sustainability successes! We use a special dust extractor at our site in Wodonga to compress paper dust into little paper bricks. These bricks then go back to both our paper mills to be recycled into paper. It truly is a full circle moment. Thinking Packaging. Discover Opal. #Sustainability #Innovation Northmore Gordon

Opal recently supported Carlisle Homes to rev up their F1-themed "We Are Carlisle" event, transforming it into a high-octane celebration of speed and style. 🏎️ With an exciting F1 theme, Carlisle wanted a number of bespoke cardboard items to bring their vision to life. Starting with branded catering packs, the project quickly grew into something much larger, with the Opal team proposing an eye-catching 2.2-meter cardboard F1 car that would be the centrepiece of the event. In addition, 70 Centrepiece Cubes were designed to hold two F1 racing flags, adding both a functional and creative dimension to the event and reinforcing the F1 theme. Thinking Packaging. On behalf of the Australian Government, the Strategic Forest and Renewable Materials Partnership has been tasked with developing a long-term plan for the strategic direction of Australia’s forest and wood products sectors – and we are delighted to be part of this important conversation! Members of our team were down in Hobart last week for the Forestry Roundtable chaired by the Hon Julie Collins, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, sharing our expertise on how the Timber Fibre Strategy can best support the goals of the sector. Opal and John Dee Warwick Pty Ltd were thrilled to be recognised as a finalist among some amazing teams at the 2024 Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) Awards for the Recycled Content category! ⭐ We worked with John Dee to increase the recycled cardboard content across its chilled and frozen meat packaging range, without compromising on the strength of the packaging. The recycled cardboard content increased from 48% to 73% in chilled meat boxes, 35% to 66% for bases and 37% to 69% for lids of the frozen meat boxes. One year on since opening our Opal Fibre Packaging Wodonga site and the team are kicking goals! It’s been an impactful 12 months, the site’s produced millions of boxes, generated enough energy from our rooftop solar system to make 63 million cups of coffee, and in partnership with our suppliers, been recognised at multiple industry award events for the design and fit out of our 55,000 square metre fibre packaging facility! Our anniversary milestone also lands during National Recycling Week - check out some photos of our Wodonga site below! Thinking Packaging.
