This Christmas, turn crisis into hope. 1 in 4 women and children in Australia face domestic violence, with cases rising sharply during the holidays, as seen daily by St Vincent's Hospital Sydney staff. St Vincent's Open Support offers crisis accommodation and assistance with immigration, housing, and income, helping women and children transition to safety and long-term recovery. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have raised over $150,000 towards our goal of $200,000 to: - Provide crisis care for 20 families - Help 3 families secure safe housing Donate NOW to St Vincent’s Healing, Hope & Humanity Fund and help us reach our target by 31 December at: https://lnkd.in/gyp3mMNS Shanthini Naidoo FFIA CFRE Katie Viviers Open Support

St Vincent's Curran Foundation has recently partnered with St Vincent's Open Support to support women and families escaping domestic violence. Each year, police, hospitals and support services like St Vincent’s Open Support prepare for a spike in domestic violence during the Christmas and New Year period. One in five women who come to our Emergency Department have experienced domestic violence in the past year. At St Vincent’s Hospital, our frontline staff witness this almost daily and play a crucial role in early intervention. Open Support crisis accommodation provides safety for up to eight women and their children while they transition to permanent housing. https://lnkd.in/g7K9Scch St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney St Vincent's Private Hospital Sydney St Vincent's Health Australia Shanthini Naidoo FFIA CFRE

Day 16 of Activism to End Gender Based Violence. The 16 Days of Activism campaign ends today but it heralds a commitment to long term change. Support us to help people fleeing abuse by giving today, sharing our posts to build awareness, and generally being an ally for change. There are so many ways we can all help to end gender-based violence. As a society we must stand up to protect the safety of women and girls locally, nationally and globally. It starts with you. #16daysofactivism2024 #endomesticviolence #endgenderviolence

Day 15: Never blame the person experiencing the violence for what has happened to them. Violence is NEVER OK – abusers can be charming to everyone else. Make it clear that it is the person using violent, abusive, or controlling behaviour, is responsible for their behaviour and not them. The person experiencing the violence or abuse cannot force a person stop being abusive, no matter how hard they try. #supportsurvivors #donate #makeadifference #enddomesticviolence #16daysofactivism2024
