At Oxfam we believe all lives are equal and no-one should live in poverty.

About us

At Oxfam we believe all lives are equal and no-one should live in poverty. We join forces with people who share this belief, to empower communities to build better lives for themselves. That’s why we are there on the ground, not only to save lives in times of crisis, but also to develop lasting solutions. Our work spans wide because there are many causes of poverty. That’s why we’re also in front of decision-makers, governments and corporations, and speak out on the big issues. Together we are tackling poverty by changing minds, systems and lives.

THIS JUST IN: Fashion brands are riding the revenue wave, reeling in $25.7 BILLION in 2023. Meanwhile, the women making our clothes can’t catch a break, stuck with poverty wages. 🔥 This summer, with our #WhatSheMakes campaign, we’re turning up the heat—demanding that brands start paying a living wage, because making enough to live on shouldn’t be a pipe dream. Tag these brands in the comments below and sign the petition to join the movement! 💪 https://lnkd.in/gbHihHqz

  • 📣 Global Day of Action for Climate Justice at #COP29 📣   Last week, we were honoured to join a powerful human chain at COP29, standing side by side with activists from around the world. Together, we showcased artwork and signs to highlight the global unity in tackling the climate crisis and called for urgent action on climate finance.   Our voices won’t be silenced—it's time for big corporations to pay their share and for climate finance to be delivered.   Join us and sign the petition! #MakeRichPollutersPay   https://lnkd.in/gG-KXm6v

Big News Alert! 🎉 We’re beyond thrilled to announce that Lorna Jane is officially paying a living wage! 💪✨ It is the first brand on the Oxfam's What She Makes Company Tracker to show that all workers at its one apparel factory are receiving a living wage. This means the women making Lorna Jane Active clothes are being paid enough for themselves and their families to live a decent, dignified life. Let’s celebrate Lorna Jane for leading the way. Paying a living wage isn’t just possible — it’s essential. 🙌 Together, let’s keep pushing brands to pay their workers enough to live on.

  • We’re live from the Australian Council for International Development Conference with the Safer World For All crew this day of action, advocating for our federal budget request! 🌏 Did you know? right now, only 0.68% of Australia’s federal budget goes to aid—far from enough to meet today’s global challenges. It’s time for Australia to step up. We’re calling on the government to allocate 1% of the federal budget to aid. It’s time to make it happen. Join our call by emailing your MP—link below to take action! 👇 https://lnkd.in/dvX7r-Ny #DownUnderStepUp #SaferWorldForAll ActionAid Australia Caritas Australia Micah Australia Save the Children Australia Climate Action Network Australia Baptist World Aid Australia ChildFund Australia

We are devastated to report the killing of four water engineers and workers in Gaza, who were collaborating with our strategic partner, the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility (CMWU). The men were on their way to repair water infrastructure in Khuzaa, east of Khan Younis, when their clearly marked vehicle was bombed, despite prior coordination with Israeli authorities. Adding to this tragedy, we mourn the loss of two colleagues from our valued partner, Juzoor. They are Dr. Ahmad Al-Najar and midwife Laila Jneid, who were killed by Israeli airstrikes over the weekend while providing life-saving health care in Gaza. Oxfam Australia stands in solidarity with CMWU, Juzoor, their partners, and the families of all the victims. Aid workers and civilians are NOT a target. Attacking aid workers is a war crime. 👉We urgently call for a permanent ceasefire and demand that the Australian Government end all arms transfers to Israel. https://lnkd.in/gg3-4U69

  • Here’s something vital to think about next time you’re in the shower. While our hair has access to ‘nutrients’ like almond oil and milk proteins, millions of people in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia and South Sudan face emergency levels of hunger. Seems unacceptable? We think so too. Because our hair isn’t hungry. People are. 💔 ONLY SHAMPOO—a fake product, made to fight a very real food crisis. 🌍✊ Support a more equal future by donating what you can below: https://lnkd.in/gfR877pJ
