Built in 1887 and added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register in 1999, the structure is symbolic of a lost era for architecture and design. But for five decades, the turn-of-the-century heritage estate would regularly switch hands and soon fall to neglect. Its redevelopment had always been complex, due to its unique cultural significance to Sutherland Shire. The residence eventually found itself in the hands of Pariter, which would then lead to its restoration. From the ornate tessellated entrance hall floor to the tower observatory and modern extension, the Heathcote Hall of today serves as both a reminder of the glory days of Victorian styling and the residence’s shift to a modern reinvention.
