  • 🚚🚜🧑🌾 Drivers are being urged to take extra care on the roads as farm machinery and trucks mobilise for a big harvest across regional NSW. Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan Shire Councils' Road Safety and Injury Prevention Officer, Melanie Suitor, said "if you see a vehicle displaying an oversize sign, the vehicle will be wider, longer or higher than a normal vehicle. They may also be accompanied by a pilot vehicle with flashing lights and warning signs." “When approaching an oversize vehicle you should: be patient, reduce your speed and wait for a safe opportunity to pass. Remember if you can't see the vehicle's mirrors, chances are they can't see you." Take extra care on the roads this harvest 🚗 Read more 👉 bit.ly/3YZH1KM

  • Recently, Council hosted the official opening of Parkes' first water play space at Kelly Reserve! 🫗 Moduplay Group, the project contractor, has created an engaging recreational space inspired by the natural features of the local Lachlan catchment. Informative signage brings Parkes' water story to life, offering a fun, educational experience for all ages. Stage 2 of the upgrades also included the installation of a ninja course, inclusive carousel, and toddler-friendly equipment, making Kelly Reserve a destination for everyone to enjoy. The official opening provided a wonderful opportunity to recognise the team involved in bringing this project to life. With inclusivity and accessibility at the core of the design, this space ensures everyone can join in the fun! This project was jointly funded by the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, the NSW Government’s Places to Play grant, Evolution Mining Northparkes Operations, and Parkes Shire Council. We’re also proud to announce that the water play space received the NSW Tidy Towns Liveable Town Award (Population Category C, Joint Winner)! If you haven't already, come check out Parkes’ award-winning space 🏆
