  • Recently we used our big red wheels to support Meals on Wheels SA to celebrate their 70th anniversary. Cochrane’s was one many local businesses that donated the cost of the meals for Friday 9 August. In Balaklava, Burra, Clare, Crystal Brook, Laura, Mannum, Peterborough, Port Augusta and Yankalilla, lunch was on us! Cochrane’s team members Ray and Derion loved helping the wonderful Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver meals in Clare and Yankalilla. #PortAugusta #Peterborough #CrystalBrook #Mannum #Balaklava #Burra #Yankalilla #southaustralia

  • It’s the end of an era and the start of the next exciting chapter…   Our much-valued CEO is riding off on his beloved motorcycle into retirement so we’re officially searching for our next Chief to oversee the next stage of our growth, evolution, and commitment to regional South Australia.   If your skills are a match, and you are genuinely excited about taking our great business to the next level please read on. https://lnkd.in/gY7htpgb

  • How good is Buy SA Week? It's a celebration of all things local and Cochrane’s couldn’t be more local if we tried! Our business began in a backyard in Mitcham in 1975 and has grown to employ more than 300 people in 8 locations across SA. We deliver thousands of pallets and parcels across the state every night, from Roxby Downs to Bordertown, from Renmark to Ceduna, from Parachilna to Marion Bay and beyond. We choose SA businesses to build our depots, supply our fuel, print our business cards, fix our plumbing and supply our office furniture. The ‘Buy SA. For SA.’ campaign aims to switch at least $1 in every $20 of consumer spending away from interstate and overseas purchases to local ones – fuelling hundreds of millions of dollars in support for SA businesses. A great reminder to choose local businesses, to help support our local economy and to employ local people. @brandsouthaus #BuySAWeek #sagreat #familybusiness #southaustralia

  • This week we wished our Administration Manager Peter Medley a long and happy retirement as he steps down after 17 years with Cochrane’s Transport. To mark the occasion, no doubt due to their sadness at no future visits from Peter, the local Commonwealth Bank branch is closing down today. We will miss Peter’s humour, his depth of knowledge and loyal, hard-working, dependable nature. We wish Peter all the very best with his retirement and hope he enjoys more time pursuing his passions and interests outside of work.  Congratulations Peter, and thank you. #familybusiness #retirement #BuySAforSA #sagreat #careers

  • Have you met Tony? Recently, Tony marked his 7-year work anniversary as a key part of our Customer Service team. We asked him a few questions to honour the occasion... Q. What was your first job? A. I was an apprentice hairdresser when I started work in 1994, I then tried a few other industries before working in hospitality for over 15 years. Q. If your time at Cochrane's could be made into a movie, what would it be called and who would play you? A. The classic comedy movie "Airplane" to be played by Eric Bana. Q. What do you like to do with your spare time? A. I love to spend time with my partner and children and I enjoy cooking, gardening and camping. Q. Is there anything special about working at Cochrane's? A. Cochrane's supports me in many ways, inside and outside of work. I have been taught and mentored in many aspects of the transport industry and Cochrane's have stood by and encouraged me every step of the way. Every day comes with its own unique tasks that test and challenge my abilities, keeping the job interesting. Q. How has Cochrane's changed in the time you have been here? A. When I started in 2017 we had a medium size depot in Torrensville and 1 company depot in Port Augusta. Since then I am proud to have been part of the expansion into our large state-of-the-art depot in Gillman and the rollout of our new depots in Victor Harbor, Clare, Kadina, Port Pirie, Berri and Whyalla. Q. Anything else you'd like people to know about Cochrane's? A. I am proud to work for a company that supports special needs and disabled children. I am excited to see what the future holds. Thank you Tony for your contribution and taking the time to share your views of the business through the lens of our valued employees! Here's Tony (Left) with Peter Cochrane chatting about what makes Cochrane's such a great place to work.

  • Time Flies: Celebrating A Year at Kadina It feels like just yesterday that we proudly opened the doors to our purpose-built depot at 10 Kennett Street, Kadina. While we have been delivering to the beautiful Yorke Peninsula for 40+ years, it was time to establish our own local base to service this growing region. Known for its rich farmland and thriving agriculture, forestry and fishing industries, Yorke Peninsula relies on efficient express delivery services to support its towns and communities. Whether it’s the papers and bread, pallets of hardware, urgent farm machinery parts or a replacement anchor for a fishing boat, we are there to ensure time-sensitive deliveries reach their destinations. And beyond pallets and parcels, we are proud of the relationships we have built and to support local businesses. Our commitment extends beyond logistics: it’s about being part of the fabric of this beautiful region.
