Some great coverage for an amazing project from our team. This really is a study in marketing effectiveness. Congratulations to Dan at Destination Gold Coast and our joint District team of PING Works and Canvas Group. And more exciting things to come!
Destination Gold Coast has delivered dramatic improvements in customer visits and lead conversation, thanks in large part to a completely overhauled martech stack. And it did this without a material change in advertising spend, according to the executive overseeing the project. The organisation run by the Gold Coast City Council has moved beyond a legacy system built on software such as Mailchimp and WordPress, to a platform built around the Sitecore stack, with Sitecore’s Personalize CDP as its heart. It has also taken an early foray into large language models. Now, barely a year later, the project is smashing key performance indications. Destination Gold Coast’s most important KPI is leads-to-industry, and when we spoke to digital performance manager, Daniel McQuillan at the end of 2023, those leads had already grown from 115,000 to 477,000 during the year. That's an almost 300 per cent jump. What's more, those leads are working better than ever before, with an 85 per cent improvement in conversions. All this is off the back of a 123 per cent increase in visitors to the website, from 2.4 million to 5.4 million. Andrew Birmingham reports in this piece from the first 2024 edition of Mi3's weekly CustomerX newsletter.

PING’s project with Destination Gold Coast was recently featured in Mi3Australia. The Destination Gold Coast website, was built by PING Works and designed by Canvas Group - both of the District Group and it coupled user-centred design with best practice use of the Sitecore CMS’s range of interactive tools, according to Tim Stokoe, CEO of PING. “That combination has not only created a beautiful website but has also provided the powerful platform that’s enabled Dan and his team to absolutely smash their key LTI goals.” said Stokoe.
