🌿 Pollination Foundation Impact and Learning Report 2024 🌏 What can we do as allies to hold space among diverse partners and build the trust needed within collectives to reach our global nature and climate goals? To explore this in FY24, we went to the jungles of Peru and Indonesia 🍃 the vibrant corals of the Great Barrier Reef 🪸 and into the deserts of central Australia and the Middle East 🐪 These journeys were about listening, learning, and spending time with IP&LCs in their territories. You can read more about our insights and how this shapes our plans for the future in our FY24 Impact and Learning Report here: https://lnkd.in/gsvZzfHx Pictured: Our Co-CEO's, Ariadne Gorring and Jane Hutchinson at Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park for the 2024 Indigenous Desert Alliance Conference. 📷 © Ariadne Gorring #IndigenousKnowledge #NatureStewardship #CollaborationForChange #Sustainability #IPLCLeadership

🦎Flowing New Funding for IP&LC-led Stewardship. Could the Cali Fund Play a Role in Supporting Nature Credit Projects?🌿 We've been thinking deeply about ways to flow new funds to IP&LC-led nature stewardship for some time. Our reflections on the recent Convention on Biological Diversity's COP 16 in Cali, Colombia, led to the flicker of an idea. In this blog post, we explore how the Cali Fund, created at COP16, and other funds like it, are opportunities for corporates to invest directly into IP&LC-led nature credit projects. And one of the best things is...that it's got nothing to do with offsetting 🙌 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/d4zveNku Pictured: Street Festival, COP 16 Green Zone, Cali, Colombia. 📷 Jane Hutchinson #naturecredits #biodiversitycredits #IP&LCstewardship #naturefinance

🚀 The Indigenous Desert Alliance Conference 2024 is about to wrap up after three days in the heart of Australia – Yulara, Northern Territory. We’ve learned much about the critical work, deep knowledge, and wisdom of the incredible desert rangers looking after one-third of the continent. We’ve heard about the resourcing challenges and the opportunities that new and stacked financing streams could bring to desert work. We’ve also had a chance to spend time with some inspiring leaders, like Sam Murray, CEO of Indigenous Desert Alliance. You can read more about her reflections on women’s leadership here: https://lnkd.in/g37BzigP Thank you to the fantastic IDA team for hosting us! 🙏✨ #IndigenousDesertAlliance #Conservation #Leadership #DesertRangers #SustainableFinance 📷 Michael Torres and Jane Hutchinson

🌿 The future of nature finance is a hot topic at COP16 Colombia. A dynamic roundtable dialogue at the Biodiversity & Finance Pavilion on "Building the Future of Nature Finance Together" brought together Indigenous leaders and financial experts to discuss equitable financing and how to flow more funds to nature's stewards. Pollination Foundation's Kirsty Galloway McLean shared some key takeaways from the session below. 👇 #COP16Colombia #IndigenousLeadership #NatureBasedSolutions
Indigenous leaders and finance experts are coming together at COP16 to discuss the future of nature finance. Read the article below to discover some of the key takeaways from the roundtable session on "Building the Future of Nature Finance" in the finance pavilion on 22nd October 2024. 🌿 "Philanthropic finance plays an important role in de-risking possibilities for nature finance, but the key is ensuring that capital reaches those who can promote real change" - Anna Christina Azevedo Nascimento 💰 "We need to make sure that the funds flow to the right people - those who hold biodiversity in their everyday lives." - Nkamunu Patita 👁️🗨️ "Indigenous people are ready and waiting - we just need funders to be brave enough to meet us there." - Erica McCreedy 🌲 "Private capital is often very prescriptive... But that’s not the way forward for nature." - Anabella Maria Rodriguez "We have to think long-term... It’s about building a future, not just quick fixes." - Jose Gualinga Join the Conversation: What role do you think finance should play in biodiversity protection? Please share your thoughts in the comments or connect with me to continue the discussion on sustainable development. #COP16 #COP16Colombia #IndigenousLeadership #BiodiversityFinance #ConservationFinance Pollination Foundation

"Partnerships are not just transactional; they need to be based on friendship." - Jane Hutchinson As COP16 Colombia gets underway, Pollination Foundation’s Kirsty Galloway McLean shares her insights from "Just Partnerships: Exchange and Learning Between Indigenous Peoples, Afro-Descendant Descendant & Local Communities", a powerful panel discussion moderated by Katy Baker from United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), highlighting the critical need to rethink how we finance biodiversity protection and ensure Indigenous voices are not only heard but lead the way. Here are some of her highlights from the discussions 👇 #COP16Colombia #IndigenousLeadership #NatureBasedSolutions
At COP16, the call for change is clear: Indigenous communities are protecting the planet, but where is their support? Read the article below for insights from the opening session of the IPLCs, Biodiversity and Finance panel, hosted by United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) and held in the Finance Pavilion on 22nd October. Some of my favourite quotes: 🌿 "You are investing capital, we are investing our livelihoods.” - Nkwi Flores 👁️🗨️ "We need a dialogue where both Indigenous and non-Indigenous spaces work together as equals" - Emil Sirén Gualinga 🌲 "I think we should be angry... billions of dollars for biodiversity but still there is no money coming to Indigenous communities." - Bustar Maitar 💰 "We don’t blink an eye when we go to a restaurant and pay a 10% tip, but we have endless conversations about allocating just 1% [of global capital] to save the planet.” - Hari Balasubramanian 🫶 "Partnerships are not just transactional; they need to be based on friendship." - Jane Hutchinson Want to learn how financial systems and trust-based partnerships are key to safeguarding the future? Collaboration is critical to solving our climate and nature crises. Earlier this year, Ampliseed, in partnership with Conservation International, brought together 18 practitioners from 7 projects across the globe to #Peru for our Environmental Resilience Partners Workshop. Together, we explored innovative nature-based solutions that put communities at the heart of climate action. From the Amazon to the Australian desert, the insights show how local wisdom leads to global impact. 🌿🌎 #ClimateAction #IndigenousKnowledge BHP Foundation
🐾We partner with organizations in Australia, Canada, South America and more that recognize and support Indigenous peoples and local communities who look after and protect more than 80 per cent of the planet’s remaining biodiversity. 🐠 🌿 Through the Ampliseed learning and leadership network led by Pollination Foundation, these practitioners came together in one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots – Alto Mayo in the Peruvian Amazon – to share perspectives, experience and skills from diverse landscapes and contexts. 🐝 🎞 Watch to learn more about the exchange with participants from: Fundación Tierra Austral, Indigenous Desert Alliance, Conservation International, the Great Barrier Reef Foundation, Nature United, the Rainforest Alliance and the The Nature Conservancy with Pollination Foundation and the BHP Foundation team ▶ https://lnkd.in/gSyk3MTq
