Barossa Village Submits Funding Application for Groundbreaking Heritage Park Precinct!
On August 29th, Barossa Village submitted its Heritage Park Precinct Project to the Australian Government's Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program (rPPP) - Stream One. This innovative project aims to develop 100 new mixed housing options for older people in Nuriootpa, setting a new standard in aged care with a focus on innovation, community integration, and sustainability.
The precinct will merge existing residential areas with undeveloped land, spanning 10 hectares, including 3.5 hectares of greenfield space. It will connect with local schools, community facilities, and the town's economic centre, fostering a vibrant, interconnected environment. The planning aims to include dementia-friendly features, and the project will meet the ageing population's needs while showcasing the Barossa Valley's landscape.
Ben Hall, CEO of Barossa Village, says, “This project is set to meet the evolving needs of our ageing population and foster a vibrant, multi-generational environment.”
“As a community-owned organisation, the Barossa Co-Op is committed to supporting initiatives like the Heritage Park Precinct, perfectly aligning with our vision for a sustainable economic and lifestyle future in the Barossa Valley. We are excited to contribute our expertise to the success of the Heritage Park Precinct, both during its development and after its completion.”
Cathy Main, Barossa Co-Op CEO
The Heritage Park Precinct Project is set to revolutionise aged care by blending high-level planning with its rural setting. By partnering with key stakeholders, Barossa Village aims to enhance community support, create job opportunities, and drive regional economic growth, setting a new benchmark for aged care providers.
Barossa Mayor Michael (Bim) Lange OAM welcomed the project.
“The Barossa Council has already invested in this project, and we look forward to continuing our longstanding partnership to achieve meaningful community, socially inclusive and economic outcomes. We are committed to ongoing collaboration, ensuring this development brings lasting benefits to the region.”
