  • What a powerful and brave message our staff shared at the Barossa Christmas Parade! 'Adventure At Any Age' This year, our float was inspired by Disney Pixar’s Up, a heartfelt story about love, loss, and rediscovery. It follows Carl Fredricksen, a widower who embarks on an extraordinary journey to fulfil a lifelong dream shared with his late wife, Ellie. Along the way, Carl forms unexpected connections with a young boy named Russell, a loyal dog named Doug, and others who help him rediscover joy, purpose, and the meaning of adventure. At its core, Up delivers a powerful message: life is an ongoing journey, and new adventures are always possible, no matter our age or circumstances. It reminds us to treasure the memories of those we’ve loved while embracing the opportunities for connection, growth, and happiness that life continues to offer. By opening ourselves to new experiences and relationships, we honour both the past and the present. The movie also highlights important lessons for all of us: 💛 Life Goes On After Loss: Carl’s story shows the importance of cherishing memories without being held back by them. Moving forward is a way to honour the love shared while finding new meaning and purpose. 💛 Adventure is Everywhere: Up reframes adventure as more than grand gestures—it's found in everyday moments, connections, and simple joys. 💛 Intergenerational Bonds Matter: The friendship between Carl and Russell reminds us of the healing power of relationships across generations and the joy that shared experiences can bring. Ultimately, Up is a celebration of the resilience of the human spirit and the power of love, connection, and letting go. It teaches us that life’s greatest adventures are found not in the destination but in the journey itself—and the people we share it with. Well done to our team for their passion for people! #staffappreciation #agedcare #community #meaningfulconnections Sherill Lepp Nicole A. Bec Normington

  • Cheers to every volunteer!! This week, we celebrated the incredible contributions of our amazing volunteers. When asked why they give their time, two reasons stood out: the joy of connecting with people and the desire to give back to their community. Their dedication inspires us every day and reminds us how vital they are to everything we do. Where would we be without their impact? Happy International Volunteers Day! • Community Supporting Community: A Beautiful Collaboration 🌸 At Barossa Village, we’re reminded daily of the power of community. A perfect example is the thoughtful generosity of Sara, Ryan, and the team at Fleur Social (Sara and Rachel pictured). Upon hearing about our Service of Remembrance today—a special event to honour residents who have passed and support their families—they donated stunning flowers to enhance the occasion. This act of kindness reflects the heart of what makes the Barossa so special: active engagement and collaboration that uplifts and connects us all. Moments like these highlight the importance of working together to recognise and celebrate the contributions of aged care residents in our community. Thank you, Fleur Social, for making this service even more meaningful. #community #agedcare #barossavalley #supportinglocal #collaboration #growth

  • We’re greatful to share our journey in advance care planning, presented by our General Manager, Matt Kowald, at the 2024 National Symposium hosted by Advance Care Planning Australia. Speaking with Hello Leaders, Matt highlighted our commitment to empowering residents with the knowledge and control needed for their end-of-life care. Our journey began in 2009 with the Respecting Patient Choices Program, which led us to develop resources to support informed discussions around care preferences. Since 2019, our partnership with the End of Life Directions for Aged Care (ELDAC) program has strengthened our palliative care practices, enabling vital partnerships with healthcare providers and establishing a dedicated team. As Matt shared, “You need to find that passionate individual...and allow them to make that their own.” Today, around 90% of our residents have an advanced care plan, with proactive monitoring embedded in daily care. For residents with dementia, “early and ongoing conversations...are essential,” Matt noted, ensuring that each individual’s wishes are honoured with empathy and understanding. At Barossa Village, our approach to advance care planning centres on compassionate, personalised care at every stage of life. #agedcare #lifechoices #endoflifeplanning #healthcare #healthinnovations

  • Today, November 11th, we observed a minute’s silence at 11 am to honour the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who served. Our Remembrance Garden at Barossa Village Residency is a space for reflection, created with care by our Wellbeing team to foster gratitude and connection within our community. We thank our team for their dedication to creating this meaningful place. Today’s service was a somber reminder of the legacy carried by those among us—children and families of war heroes who hold the memories of these times close. Katie’s smile and our More Good Days slogan pretty much tell anyone everything they need to know about the Barossa Village … but if you happened to attend The Barossa Council’s Ageing in Style expo today at The Barossa Co-op central mall, as many people did, you could hear from her directly. The expo is wonderful initiative of the Seniors Collaborative Action Project (SCAP) connecting older Australian’s from our area with an array of service providers … 🙏 Barossa Village is proud to serve in our community … and Katie was amazing today sharing with everyone not just what we do … but why we do it 👍 … thanks Katie 🎉🎉🎉 #community #care #compassion

  • We are excited to announce Barossa Village’s new partnership with The Dementia Centre, a collaboration that will significantly enhance the quality of life for those living with dementia in our community. This partnership aligns perfectly with the theme of this year’s Aged & Community Care Providers Association National Conference, "Age of Excellence: Inspire. Innovate. Impact," which kicks off today! Together, we are committed to inspiring change, innovating in aged care, and making a lasting impact on the lives of our residents. Marie Alford, Head of Dementia Professional Services at The Dementia Centre, shares her enthusiasm for this collaboration: "Working with Barossa Village is a key, exciting opportunity. We’ve seen the potential for creating environments where people can stay at home longer—something everyone wants." This partnership reflects the principles of excellence and innovation by integrating dementia-friendly design into new and existing homes. These environments will prioritise safety, simplicity, and familiarity, helping residents live independently with dignity. Daniel Jameson from The Dementia Centre explains, “We can support Barossa Village in creating better spaces for people living with dementia.” Barossa Village CEO Ben Hall adds, “This partnership brings the expertise we need to inform the design of our homes and support residents living with dementia.” Watch our video to learn more about how we’re driving excellence and innovation in aged care and how Barossa Village is making an impact in the Barossa Valley. #ACCPANC24 #AgeofExcellence #AgedCare #DementiaCare #AgeingInPlace #DementiaFriendlyDesign #CommunityCare
