Roses are red, violets are blue, this Valentine’s Day, we’d like to thank YOU. Thanks to the many hundreds of PCFA supporters who have backed us in this year’s Valentine’s Day campaign. The hero of this year’s campaign is the quintessential motorsport gentleman, Rob Herrod, and he neatly explains why we do this: “Last night, my son asked me if I would change anything about my life. I said yes - I wish I didn’t have prostate cancer. “But if there’s one thing I’m okay with, it’s the fact that I’m more involved in making sure he never gets it. “That’s why today, on Valentine’s Day, I’m asking others to say ‘I Do’ to research by donating to the work of PCFA. “I choose to change the lives of other men by supporting prostate cancer research. I choose to be the hero my son needs in his life, by donating to research that will allow him to choose what he wants to do with his life, without worrying about prostate cancer. “I’m hoping others will make the same choice, too.” ❤️ Happy Valentine’s Day to all those who choose change, for a future free from prostate cancer. www.valentinesday.org.au And big thanks to our friends at TENA, for so gallantly doubling all donations. #ValentinesDay #prostatecancer #prostatecancerawareness #realmen #realstories #prostatecancerresearch

Here’s a legend we know and love! 😀 This weekend, Craig Lowndes will take the track at the Bathurst 12 Hour with a dual mission: to win the race while supporting Aussie men with prostate cancer. 🏎️ “This isn’t just about raising money—it’s about starting a conversation about getting checked and saving lives. As men, we often put our health on the back burner, but a simple PSA blood test can make all the difference. "If you’re over 40 or have a family history, like I do, it’s crucial to chat with your GP about getting tested,” Lowndesy says. Get involved now by buying a virtual lap of Bathurst with Lowndesy in a Corvette Z06 > https://lnkd.in/dvQhxtK5 👊 💙 Let’s get engines roaring for the men we love! 👏 #realmen #realstories #realhope #prostatecancer #prostatecancerawareness #prostatecancerresearch #prostatecancersurvivor #prostatecancerfoundation #prostatecancerawarness #endprostatecancer #fightprostatecancer #prostatecancerscreening

Shout out to Olympic Gold Medalist Shayna Jack OLY for choosing PCFA as her charity in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 🌴🐒 Quote: “I chose Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia as my dad got diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2023 and my fiancés pop died from prostate cancer. The reason I want to support this important charity is because of how far they have come due to the research and support they offer. My dad was able to catch it early because of the prevention measures in place.” 💪 We’re so proud to have Shayna’s support – her never say die attitude speaks to our cause! 💙 Please get behind her folks, not just because she’s a worthy champion, but also because $100,000 will be donated to PCFA if she wins. 😀 Shayna – we love you! We are cheering for you! 💪💙 #ImACeleb #VoteForShayna #QueenOfTheJungle #ImACelebrityAU #ReadyForAnything #channel10 #prostatecancerawareness #prostatecancer

Could genetic testing be the answer to saving more lives? Research from a new groundbreaking study funded by PCFA has discovered that genetic testing the first-degree relatives of men with prostate cancer could be a cost-effective way to save lives and reduce healthcare costs. The study, published by The University of Queensland, highlights the critical role of genetic testing and counselling in identifying family members who may carry hereditary risk factors for prostate cancer and other common cancers such as breast and ovarian cancers. Prostate cancer survivor Peter Schweizer backed the call for genetic testing to better protect families. The news appeared in The Australian today. Do you have a cancer checklist? In this interview with Body+Soul, we highlight how taking a proactive approach to health check-ups can help prevent cancer and ensure early detection if the disease does develop. “Preventative care doesn’t just focus on avoiding illness, it’s about optimising overall health…It encourages people to live healthier, happier lives rather than simply focusing on disease prevention.” With the highest rates of cancer in the world, there’s no time like the present to put your health first. Thanks to the team at Autopact Rockhampton for accelerating local awareness of prostate cancer through their innovative ‘Drive for a Mate’ initiative. 🚗👍💙 Led by the group's dealer principals, Sheamus O'Reilly, Chris Hayes, Jacob Willetts, and Parts Manager Garion Phillips, the initiative offered to donate $20 to PCFA for every test drive across Autopact Rockhampton’s three dealership sites. A phenomenal $5,690 was raised from 253 test drives, which was then doubled by the organisation’s Autopact Foundation, bringing the total amount donated to PCFA to a whopping $11,380. 👏 The team shared that they decided to set up the fundraiser after the diagnosis of one of their teammates, Vern Real, who credited PCFA for helping to guide him through his diagnosis. 🙌 “Vern still has a road to travel, but that road will be a lot easier with PCFA and the amazing individuals from our local Central Queensland Prostate Cancer Support Group,” Garion Phillips says. “Our thanks also goes out to Lloyd Younger and Phil Pisani from the support group (pictured) for visiting one of our dealerships to raise awareness of men’s health and celebrate Autopact Rockhampton’s contributions.” Cheers to all involved! 💙💙 To host your own fundraiser for PCFA, get involved by registering at fundraise.pcfa.org.au.
