About us
Australian Python programming enthusiasts are continuing the global PyCon ("Python Conference") tradition in Melbourne from November 22-26, 2024. The Australian PyCon will see dozens of presentations on web programming, business applications, game development, science and mathematics, social issues, education, testing, databases, documentation and more. Unlike formal conferences, PyCons are run by volunteer Python programmers; the users' perspective governs everything from talk selection to conference cost, making an exceptionally worthwhile conference. Participants themselves generate content, which can be as short as a 5 minute Lightning Talk, or as long as a 45-minute "How To" tutorial. PyCon Australia will be a great way to meet other enthusiasts, learn new skills, share ideas and establish connections.

What do you do when there's no relevant historical data for modeling or the existing data is outdated? And what if your model has to meet strict constraints? Machine learning can struggle with these challenges, but mathematical optimization (MO) shines in such situations. It's crucial in industries like aviation for efficient scheduling and solves complex problems with ease. Join Dr. Jack Simpson as he shows how MO can tackle real-world challenges in a practical and engaging way. https://lnkd.in/gimAFJRN #PyConAU #PyCon #Data #MathematicalOptimazation #MachineLearning

💻Dan Draper shared an excited way to think about IAM at PyCon AU. Discover how encryption can make access simpler, faster, and more secure! CipherStash 🔥 #PyConAU #PyConAU2024 #PyCon #Encryption #IAM
When you think of IAM (Identity & Access Management) you probably think of Okta, AWS IAM or Ping. Whatever solution, encryption likely isn't on your mind when thinking about IAM! But when combined with fast, identity-based key management like ZeroKMS and searchable encryption that works natively in the database, encryption becomes a powerful and flexible access management tool. We call it Encryption as Access Control and it is: 🗺️ Universal (set policy once, not for every different system) ❌ Deny by default 😎 Identity based 🔍 More granular and precise than RBAC or RLS 🏎️ Fast (< 1ms of query overhead) Last week at PyCon AU, I showed how Encryption as Access Control works and how it compares to traditional solutions like RBAC or database Row-Level Security. Enjoy. PS: Youtube picked the one slide I used of a poodle as the thumbnail so I think I'm going to use him as an unofficial mascot now! https://lnkd.in/gpTuGmWm
Fast, highly effective database security using searchable encryption (without the yak shave)
