This is a great result for New Hope Group, the local community and the Queensland resources sector. After more than a decade of legal battles, the New Acland mine stage 3 expansion will proceed, providing around 400 jobs. The approvals process for new resources projects must be streamlined to ensure Queensland can keep meeting global demand for our resources, including coal, gas and critical minerals. We continue to work with governments at all levels to improve approvals processes for new projects and ensure world’s best environmental standards are maintained. New Hope Corporation Limited (ASX: NHC) (Company) advises that its wholly owned subsidiary, New Acland Coal Pty Ltd (New Acland), and Oakey Coal Action Alliance (OCAA), represented by the Environmental Defenders Office (EDO), have agreed terms for discontinuance of OCAA's Land Court of Queensland appeal against the Queensland Government’s decision to grant an Associated Water Licence to New Acland Stage 3. The agreement requires consent of Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers and subsequent filing with the Land Court of Queensland. The discontinuance of OCAA's appeal, once formalised by the Land Court of Queensland, would bring an end to the ongoing legal challenges by OCAA against New Acland Stage 3 approvals and enables New Acland to progress its operational ramp up plan without further delay. The Company’s Chair, Mr Robert Millner, said the conclusion of OCAA’s final legal challenge will give certainty for the local community and the Company and concludes many years of opposition and legal challenges mounted by OCAA against New Acland Stage 3. “The end of OCAA's challenge gives us confidence to progress our ramp up plan and develop the Manning Vale West mining area.” Mr Millner said. “Our workforce at New Acland has grown to almost 300 employees since resuming operations.” “The permanent workforce at New Acland will be approximately 400 full-time roles once New Acland Stage 3 is fully developed.” “New Acland Stage 3 ensures secure jobs in the region with more than 90 per cent of the current workforce living within 50 kilometres of the site.” “New Acland provides an essential energy product to our trading partners in Asia and domestically and will bring significant economic benefits for Queensland, and especially the Darling Downs region.”

Congratulations to Stanmore Resources Limited and Idemitsu Australia Pty Ltd. for their leadership on the path to decarbonisation. Queensland's resources sector is known for its world class leadership and innovation in sustainable mining practices. This example is one way our members are putting sustainability into practice to find new uses for post mined land and to develop lower emissions fuels. Renewable energy projects on post mined land could be one way Queensland has the right energy mix for today, and for tomorrow. Today we are pleased to announce Stanmore, together with Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd and Terviva, Inc has started a trial Pongamia plantation of 14,000 trees adjacent to our South Walker Creek mine. Pongamia is used as a feedstock for renewable fuels which will be necessary in the future. As a major landholder in Central Queensland we are keen to assess the viability of Pongamia under a range of conditions, including on land disturbed by mining. We will also work with our project partners to assess further uses for Pongamia beyond renewable fuels, such as livestock feed and for carbon sequestration. This is another milestone as we further evolve the Stanmore decarbonisation journey.

Queensland’s Coordinator-General has declared QEM Limited (ASX:QEM)’s $1 billion Julia Creek Vanadium and Energy Project a ‘coordinated project’, a significant milestone for this development and for Queensland’s critical minerals sector. Located 16km southeast of Julia Creek, the proposed greenfield vanadium and oil shale mine will produce over 10,500 tonnes of vanadium pentoxide and 313 million litres of transport fuel annually over its 30 years. Vanadium pentoxide will be refined on-site and processed in Townsville to support renewable energy storage solutions. This transformative project is expected to deliver 600 construction jobs, and 588 operational jobs, with construction scheduled to commence in 2028. The declaration paves the way for streamlined approvals and further growth for Queensland’s critical minerals industry.
