“It’s important to always ‘be raising’ – even when you’re not.” At Raaise, we believe in Always Be Raising (ABR). But let’s be clear: this isn’t about constantly pitching for capital. ABR is about building relationships, sharing progress, and creating accountability—long before your next round. For pro-planet founders, where stakes are high and timelines tight, ABR can mean the difference between a seamless raise and a scramble for funds. The Two Sides of ABR 1. Actively Raising This is the obvious part: meetings, calls, due diligence, and pitching. You’ve set a goal, and you’re executing a structured process. But here’s the catch: active fundraising is easier when you’ve mastered the second part of ABR. 2. Passively Fundraising The best founders don’t just show up when they need cash—they cultivate relationships over time. This means identifying potential investors for future rounds, engaging regularly, and keeping the conversation warm. One of the most effective ways to passively fundraise? Investor updates. By sending monthly or quarterly updates, you: Showcase progress. Build trust. Stay accountable. The average investor-founder relationship lasts 8-10 years. Starting early makes the decision to write a check a lot easier when the time comes. Momentum is Everything Anyone who’s raised before knows how rounds come together: No one wants to invest until someone commits. Once you land a lead, the rest of the round falls into place. This dynamic makes ABR crucial. Take the Path of Least Resistance Capital is harder to secure these days, but it’s still within reach for founders who focus their energy on the right investors. Don’t waste time chasing investors that don't align with your mission. Instead, prioritise building relationships with investors who truly believe in your vision and are ready to support your journey. Secure the capital you need, take the path of least resistance, and get back to what matters most—building your startup. How Raaise Makes ABR Simple Raaise was designed with ABR in mind. Whether you’re actively raising or simply building for the future, our platform helps you: Track Investor Engagement: Build and manage your pipeline efficiently. Streamline Updates: Share progress with investors in seconds, keeping the conversation alive. Build Trust Over Time: Let potential investors see your traction and resilience firsthand. Many founders credit their investor updates as the single biggest reason they’ve successfully raised capital. Start Writing Your Story Today ABR isn’t just about raising capital—it’s about creating opportunities and momentum that make fundraising a natural next step, not a desperate sprint. So start writing your investor updates. Build those relationships. Share your progress. With Raaise, we’ll help you stay organised, connected, and ready for whatever comes next. 🌍 3 (out of 50+) inspiring Climate Startups I discovered this week: building scalable solutions and profitable businesses 🌟 1️⃣ SamudraOceans – Harnessing Seaweed for Carbon Capture & more. Samudra Oceans is revolutionising the blue carbon ecosystem by integrating robotics and AI to scale seaweed cultivation. Their innovative approach not only captures atmospheric carbon (on average 30x more than trees) but also mitigates ocean acidification, supports biodiversity, and improves water quality. Operating from the coasts of Scotland to Jamaica, Samudra is empowering coastal communities and creating sustainable jobs, all while aiming to remove 1 gigatonne of carbon from the atmosphere by 2033. 🌊 Connect > Oritsebawo Paul Ikpobe + Joyeeta Das (pictured with team below) Discovered at Rebel Book Club + Climate Connection 2️⃣ Concrete4Change – The Revolution in Construction Materials Concrete is responsible for 8% of global CO2 emissions, but Concrete4Change has cracked a game-changing tech: carbon-capturing concrete. Yes, concrete that stores CO2 instead of emitting it! 🏗️ They're paving the way (literally) to a net-zero construction future. Massive impact potential here. Connect > Dalraj Nijjar Discovered at London Climate Technology Show 3️⃣ Ogoori – Transforming Ocean Plastic into a Circular Economy Ogoori is tackling ocean plastic pollution by upcycling ownerless marine plastic into traceable, reusable materials. Their innovative "Material as a Service" model ensures that the recycled plastic remains in a closed-loop system, preventing it from returning to the ocean. By collaborating with beach cleanup organizations and utilizing blockchain technology for traceability, Ogoori is turning waste into valuable resources while supporting environmental restoration. cc Waterhaul Connect Lars Urheim + Eirik Helgesen Discovered at VOYAGERS.io Have you come across any other climate pioneers recently? 👇 Looking to invest in or raise funds for climate startups. Not COP. The Pavilion of the People > https://lnkd.in/eNPNVdBz

I've chosen not to go to Baku for COP29 Azerbaijan and part of me regrets not being there for the "gift from God" moment, surely a landmark in the history of climate negotiations. But spare a thought for the many people who don't have that choice and desperately want to have their voices heard. Refugees, for example, are among those most at risk from climate change yet are the least able to travel to international conferences. No papers, no money, no chance of visas. So the Pavilion for People - link here https://lnkd.in/eVMme-bq - is a fascinating initiative to allow anyone anywhere to interact with refugees and many others. A few days ago I stepped into this virtual world and found myself talking to Molfa David Ibrahima, an enthusiastic host. He fled Sudan 18 years ago and was speaking to me from the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya where he's lived ever since. The picture below shows what it's like: a hot and dusty environment with few trees because there's an endless need for firewood. Rainy days are even worse with homes swept away by swollen rivers. No one's in a position to cope with such unpredictable weather extremes. Molfa tells me about an immediate goal: to replace wood with solar-powered cookers which are being provided by the public-private partnership SOLCO, run by the NGO https://lnkd.in/eUa2S_RA. They're the sponsors of the Pavilion for People venture. He says the social benefits of solar cookers are immense: no longer having to look for firewood and fewer people suffering from 'red eye' from all the smoke. Next I'm connected to Said Mohammed Omar, who's very polite when faced with all my questions. He can't go to Baku because he doesn't have travel documents, so this gives him an opportunity to talk to people who might help. Maybe this is part of the future: fewer people attending Cops to save money and carbon, a wider range of voices enabled to contribute virtually, new kinds of dialogue that might be difficult to organise in person. Do give it a go. Thanks to Fiona Pelham for being my guide and to David Eades for making the connection.

    Funding pro-planet startups 🌱 : Raaise CEO

It’s been a huge few weeks here... For the last couple of years, Ben Keene's been raving about the Blue Earth Summit; “THE best climate event in the UK”. It's simply awesome for gathering inspiring people committed to creating real change. Last week, they took it to the next level with 7,000 attendees and 1,000+ startups applying to pitch—resulting in an insanely high quality top BE100, of which 30 pitched live. The real magic of Blue Earth is that it’s not just about the event—it’s about building lasting impact and connection long after. And that’s where we come in! We’re thrilled to have kicked off our first grey-label partnership with Blue Earth Summit, launching a custom fundraising platform (powered by Raaise) to help the BE100 raise. We couldn’t have asked for a more aligned partner to start this journey! Collectively, these game-changing startups are raising £680M (AUD $1.3 billion) to scale planet-positive solutions. 🌍 So, enormous congrats to the Blue Earth Summit team on an incredible event and to each BE100 startup; Seed winner > Library of Things Growth winner > Reboxed® Scale winner > UrbanChain Plus many more, including Earth Cubs, 🌱 Rightcharge Desolenator, Riversimple, and more—for making it—Check out the BE100 in the link below. Congrats again to Freddie O'Shea, Guy Hayler, Linley Lewis - we love working with you. Plus, huge thanks to Dominic Jackman for the Herculean effort and, of course, Neal Carter-James and Ben Keene - the dream team.

3 days at Blue Earth Summit and the all the big dreams seem possible again. When 1000s of people working on solutions to some of the hardest climate and nature challenges come together at a world-class event, the energy is infectious...but the outcomes matter more. My 3 takeaways from Blue Earth 2024: 1. The quality of startup business solutions in climate is going up. I hosted the Business Forum stage where we had 30 brilliant pitches + 12 judges. (Finalists listed below). 2. The stronger the commercial model, the quicker and faster the impact. There were so many examples of fast growing companies that are genuinely disrupting for the better because they're profitable early. 3. You CAN mix business and friendship. Half of Blue Earth Summit felt like a reunion of people who have committed a lot to making positive change in the world. It feels so good to come together in a brilliant venue with great food, drink, music, production and sunshine! The Blue Earth 100 startups are now powered by Raaise and funding deals are happening off the back of the summit. Connect with them here > https://lnkd.in/er4rQuFH The winning startups (and runners up): Seed > Library of Things (Rollr) Growth > Reboxed® (🌱 Rightcharge ) Scale > UrbanChain (TO THE MARKET) + seeing amazing progress of last years winners: Waterhaul, ENSO, WaterBear Network Congrats to all the founders, investors, changemakers, creators and team in front and behind the scenes of the summit - a big success. Guy, Rosie, Linley, Sara, Freddie, Baz + co.
