Grief can be an incredibly isolating and emotional experience, so even a brief check-in can mean a lot. Ask how they’re doing, and let them know you’re there for them. Sometimes, just knowing a colleague cares can be a huge comfort during a difficult time.

Member for Newland Olivia Savvas MP has successfully moved a motion to establish a parliamentary inquiry to examine the prevalence, causes and effects of stillbirth and how to enhance supports. The Select Committee is calling for submissions from all members of the community especially bereaved parents. For decades, Red Tree Foundation have been providing support and education for bereaved parents and the community in this space and will be using this experience to lodge a submission. Last week, Red Tree Foundation Grief Counsellor Jacob Mangelsdorf was interviewed by The Guardian, focusing on the incredibly complex grief that comes with losing a child after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Jacob was able to provide insight from his expertise as a grief counsellor with over 16 years of experience, on the impact of grief in such an unexpected and difficult time. At Red Tree Foundation, we support any South Australian family that suddenly or unexpectedly loses a child, including in pregnancy. Our Counsellors are experts in grief and loss, and leaders in South Australia in the grief specialist area. We are here to support grieving South Australian families, in their most difficult times.
