The new minimum operational record set in Queensland this week is further proof that energy storage is now, more than ever, required to absorb excess solar or other renewable energy and provide long-duration energy storage (4+ hours) to shift the power into peak time’s providing dispatchable load for the grid. Redflow’s zinc-based long-duration energy storage is the perfect solution to support a renewables grid.
The sunshine state lived up to its name yesterday, with Queensland setting a new minimum operational demand record of 3,096 MW, down from 3,131 MW (October 2023).
