Not that we're biased, but we're absolutely claiming last week's Roadshow as one of our best so far! Over 100 people joined us in Fremantle for a relaxed and informative two days on the west coast. Our welcome function at Little Creatures Brewery really kicked us off with plenty of networking opportunities (inc three brewery tours thrown in for extra fun) whilst watching the amazing western sunset. The next day we were blown away by the Fremantle Sailing Club - it was the perfect venue to host a day of conference sessions led by our engaging and informative presenters. We were given updates by Airservices Australia and the Bureau of Meteorology; treated to the behind-the-scenes story of Nexus Airlines' first year of operation; took a look at AMSL Aero's Vertiia's untethered test flights; discussed pilot training and the role VR and AR technology is going to play into the future with Flight Options (Australia) Pty Ltd; considered how we can further build resilience amongst our pilot cohort with Australian Federation of Air Pilots (AFAP) , and reviewed the (often somewhat undervalued) importance of stabilised approaches with Civil Aviation Safety Authority. Thank you to everyone who made the effort to get across to WA. It was also great to see so many staff who came along from our local members too - it really is a great opportunity for them to meet their industry colleagues from across the country, in all areas of regional aviation... And finally, thank you also to our sponsors! Just reminiscing of warmer times in Darwin! 😉 Last week our Board spent a day working on the RAAA’s strategy for the next 5 years. We were treated with a very informative trip down memory lane as we reviewed where we’ve come from (led by former RAAA Chair Michael Bridge), looked into where we are now and then jumped into the fun part to brainstorm where we all want to go in the near future… Our new strategic plan is shaping up well and will be shared with our members soon… Carl Jepsen Stewart Tully Shannon Wells Michael McConachy Eliza Tipping Malcolm Sharp Adrianne Fleming OAM GAICD Mark Wardrop Daniel Bowden David Trevelyan Greg Atkin Rob Walker GAICD FRAeS

And that’s a wrap for Darwin!! Safe travels to everyone heading home now and hopefully those that caught the red eye out last night are still functioning ok today 😉! It’s very clear to us that one of the main benefits of being involved with the RAAA is the chance to catch up with your fellow colleagues and discuss all manner of issues - and it’s also pretty cool to see new initiatives form out of these networking opportunities too…🤗 Hopefully see you all again in Fremantle in December!
