  • As 2024 draws to a close, we are taking the opportunity to reflect on our achievements to make renting work for everyone. This year, our focus has been on supporting Queensland's residential rental sector to navigate rental reforms while also working towards achieving the goals of our Strategic Plan 2022–26. In our short video, we share some year in review highlights.

  • At the RTA’s annual CEO Awards last week, we acknowledged and celebrated the achievements of our staff in 2024. The event recognises those who demonstrate our values, contribute to our culture, and have a positive impact on Queensland’s rental sector.     This year, our CEO Leader Award was presented to Julie Daniel for her collaborative approach and outstanding leadership as Director Governance, Legal, Risk and Compliance.     Our CEO Team Member Award was presented to Lin Cuthbert for her work on the Digital Foundations project. The project helped improve the RTA’s digital environment, IT security and record keeping.     Our CEO New Starter Award was presented to Ian Markwood for his positive contributions to the RTA’s procurement and purchasing processes in his short time at the RTA.     Our CEO Team Award was presented to HR Services for consistently demonstrating professionalism in supporting employees, recruitment and policy advice.     Congratulations to Julie, Lin, Ian and the HR Services team.

  • Earlier this week, the RTA’s myRTA Modernisation Program team joined Q Shelter at their Regional Forum to talk all things ‘customer portal’. It was a fantastic chance to connect and gain valuable insights from everyone involved. Big thanks to everyone for their time and effort – we look forward to continued collaboration.

This week is one of the busiest weeks in the Q Shelter calendar, as we host six events over the next two days for Queensland's housing and homelessness sector. To kick things off, today we've welcomed around 60 of our colleagues from housing and homeless support providers from right across the state for our two-day Regional Representatives Forum. This event is held twice a year and sees our regional reps hear case studies from different initiatives in various regions, updates from Q Shelter on projects and campaigns, sector stakeholders and from the Department of Housing and Public Works. We've been very fortunate today to have the Residential Tenancies Authority present to the group about their website portal service and take feedback from our regional representatives on how to shape the portal so it best serves those who interact with the RTA's services most. One of the most important parts of the Regional Representatives Forum is the round table workshops that are held throughout the two days, where our reps discuss the key issues they face as providers in their region, and what investment and policy measures could provide solutions to those issues. These discussions inform Q Shelter's policy platform and investment recommendations for the state budget that is presented to the State Government, and shapes our agenda for the following year. These biannual meetings are essential to our work in authentically representing the sector and the issues impacting people experiencing unment housing need and homelessness, and are particularly important right now with the recent installment of the new state government. We are so proud of the success we have had in influencing policy and investment in the housing and homelessness space, and it is only possible due to the invaluable input of all of our regional reps in making the time to collaborate and share the critical issues in their regions with us so we can craft solutions together. We look forward to bringing you more updates from this and our other events over the coming days. #HomeMatters #BetterTogether #RegionalReps #housing #homelessness #queensland
