RSPCA NSW is an animal welfare charity committed to helping animals in need across the state.

About us

The RSPCA is the voice for the animals of Australia. We defend their dignity and fight to stop cruelty. We offer shelter, education, medical attention and love. We are animal protectors, carers and guardians. We bring solace to the abandoned, surrendered and injured. We prosecute those who would harm them and we fight for the humane treatment of all living things. But our job does not stop at animals. We believe behind every animal is a human being who is in need of guidance, encouragement and help. We have specially designed programs to assist the community in caring for their animals. We look after the animals of domestic violence victims, the homeless, the elderly and the socially isolated. We also offer community and school education programs designed to promote empathy and understanding. We receive less than two per cent of our funding from the government, and rely almost entirely on the goodwill of our loyal supporters and like-minded members of the community. We believe in animals because they make our lives better and remind us what it is like to live humanely.

  • Introducing the world's newest breed – the Rescuoodle (res-kyoo-dle) ❤️ At RSPCA NSW, we believe that rescue animals are in a breed of their own. So, we’ve decided to make it official. Introducing Rescuoodles, a campaign to inspire the world to open their hearts and homes to animals awaiting adoption 🙌 Cavoodles, schnoodles, and bernedoodles were all once unknown words. Now, these breeds are all the rage amongst pet owners. But as more people buy designer pets, they leave behind oodles of rescue animals patiently waiting for a home. With a 30% decline in adoptions seen across NSW the launch of Rescuoodles hopes to raise the profile of rescue animals, reduce the demand for unethical breeding and celebrate those who have already been adopted. A Rescuoodle can be fluffy, scruffy, spotty or striped, smooth as silk, mellow or hyped. But the one thing that binds them together like glue, is that all they need to be happy is you 🥰 To learn more about the Rescuoodle, visit our website via the link below 👇 https://lnkd.in/guNmVWQZ Or meet the oodles of Rescuoodles waiting for adoption here: https://lnkd.in/g2zTYN7y #AdoptDontShop #Rescue #Rescuoodles

  • ADOPTED JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS ❤️🎄 Little Dash thought his first Christmas would to be spent alone. Nestled in a quiet corner, he watched as one by one, his brothers and sisters were adopted. Their excited barks and wagging tails fading as they left for their forever homes. But as the days grew longer and the shelter grew quieter, Dash feared he had been forgotten 😔 Then, one chilly December morning, hope reared its head. Hearing the jingle of keys and soft footsteps approaching, Dash’s ears perked up. Lifting his head, he found himself staring into the most caring eyes he’d ever seen. 'You’re perfect’—the two thought as they looked at other. The connection was instant, and Dash couldn’t hide his excitement—his wagging tail saying more than words ever could 🥰 That very day, Dash left the shelter bundled in a cozy blanket, his new family promising him a lifetime of love, warmth, and happiness. As they prepared for the holidays together, Dash discovered what it truly meant to be part of a family. Merry Christmas, little one ❤️ Here’s to Dash, his new family and every other pet who has found their perfect home. Hopefully many more are as lucky as he is 🙏 #Adopted #MerryChristmas #HappyTail

  • With 352 animals finding their forever homes this month, we are so happy to see so many of our puppers, cats and kittens find homes in time for Christmas ❤️ Sadly, many more animals are still available for adoption, and hundreds more need foster carers. While we’d never encourage giving a pet as an impulsive gift, the holiday season is an ideal time to welcome a new companion. With extra time at home, you can give your new best friend the time and attention they need to settle in. Or, you could use this time to provide an animal a much-needed break from shelter life 😌 So, if you’re considering adopting or can temporarily open your home as a foster carer, please consider one of our animals today. Your kindness can make all the difference 🙏 www.rspcansw.org.au/adopt RON: R251000223 #AdoptDontShop #HappyTails #FosterCare

  • A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Paws & Claws event last week to celebrate and show their continued support for our mission 🐾💙 This event provides us with the opportunity to recognise and thank the generous private donors and corporate partners who have made a remarkable impact on the lives of animals this year. Your dedication to the animals of NSW and the people who love them is truly inspiring. A special thank you to The Langham Hotel Sydney for hosting us in such an exquisite venue, offering exceptional food and hospitality – for both our two-legged and four-legged guests! As a pet-friendly hotel, it was the perfect location to celebrate 2024 with both human and animal companions 🐕 Here’s to another year of making a difference! 💚💙 #AnimalWelfare #Support #RSPCANSW

  • With Christmas less than a week away, presents have started to appear under our trees for those who will be spending their holidays in care 🎄🎁 Recently we were visited by these two beautiful young ladies who brought bags upon bags of much-needed supplies, toys, and treats for our animals. We can’t thank them—and anyone else who has already donated—enough for helping to make this season so special for our furry friends ❤️ On Christmas Day, each animal will be lucky enough to pick out a gift from under the tree. One they can call their own and enjoy while they patiently wait for the best gift of all... a forever home 🙌 If you would like to donate a toy, treats or even towels, bedding or blankets, these items will go towards showing these precious souls that they are just as deserving of love as any other 🥰 Our Christmas trees can be found in the foyers of each shelter, so feel free to visit or contact your local shelter directly for more information. • IT ONLY TAKES SIX MINUTES FOR A DOG TO DIE IN A HOT CAR 💔 Temperatures in a car can rise to dangerous levels and can rapidly reach more than double the outside temperature even on mild days. Tinting, parking in the shade or leaving the windows open do not help to reduce the inside temperature enough. If you see a dog in a hot car, contact us on 1300 278 358 or your local police as soon as possible.
