Today, on Road Worker Day of Remembrance, we pay tribute to those who have lost their lives or suffered serious injury while working on our roads. They are the unsung heroes who play a pivotal role in the development of our infrastructure that communities rely on daily. Please pause for a moment and remember them. There’s no one someone won’t miss, and everyone has the right to get home safely. #RWDOR #RWDOR24

Huge congratulations to Bundaberg Regional Council who have received the inaugural Yellow Ribbon Excellence Award for their ground breaking road safety work over the last year. This included introducing a Network Safety Plan to make its road network safer which will have a huge impact as so many Australian roads are under the authority of their LGAs. Thanks to our partner the NTRO - National Transport Research Organisation for presenting this award with us and to our great friend and road safety champion Jeff Doyle for travelling up to Bundaberg with our founder and President Peter Frazer OAM to present the award to Bundaberg Mayor Helen Blackburn MAICD JP Qual. #roadsafety #drivesos #NTRO #LGA #SARAHGroup #NRSW
It's important to recognise excellence in road safety, So congratulations to Bundaberg Regional Council for being awarded the inaugural Yellow Ribbon Excellence Award for your ground-breaking road safety work over the past 12 months. The Yellow Ribbon Excellence Award is presented by the National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO) and SARAH: Safer Australian Roads and Highways Group to organisations which show excellence in road safety. Among other initiatives, Bundaberg Regional Council has made the important step of introducing a Network Safety Plan to make its road network safer - a fantastic step for not only those who live there and use local roads regularly, but for anyone using the local roads passing through that part of Queensland. More than 75% of Australia's roads are controlled by local government, so BRC's work here is showing the way among LGAs. NTRO Executive Director, Roads and Road Safety Jeff Doyle and SARAH Group founder Peter Frazer OAM travelled to Bundaberg this week to present Mayor Helen Blackburn MAICD JP Qual with the award. Congratulations to the entire BRC team who work so diligently in the safety space. We're proud to be involved with the Yellow Ribbon Excellence Award in the lead-up to 2025 National Road Safety Week, which will run from May 11-18. NTRO is a SARAH Group partner, and a partner of National Road Safety Week - the flagship awareness event for road safety in Australia. On November 9th, we pause to observe Road Worker Day of Remembrance. Today, we aim to raise public awareness and honour the memory of road workers who have tragically lost their lives or suffered serious injuries while working tirelessly to keep our roads safe. These dedicated individuals play a crucial role in building and maintaining the infrastructure our communities rely on every day. Just like anyone else heading to work, road workers deserve to return home safely to their families. Sadly, we've witnessed far too many heartbreaking incidents, each leaving a profound impact on our communities. Everyone has a right to get home safe to their loved ones, Every Day, No Exceptions. Let’s continue to support and advocate for the safety of those who build and maintain our roads. Thank you for standing with us. #Downer #Trafficmanagement #Roadworkersafety #RWDOR Altus Traffic Australia, Stuart Billing, Murray Robertson, SARAH: Safer Australian Roads and Highways, Traffic Management Association of Australia (TMAA) Betty Mitrova

Last year 1,266 people tragically lost their lives on our roads. While this shocking number is well understood by all Australians, what is less understood is the danger faced by our road workers – the people who build, maintain and operate our roads to keep us safe. Over a ten-year period, there has been an average of 18 fatal worksite crashes and 245 serious injury crashes recorded annually, and many crashes and near misses in work zones are significantly underreported. We’re seeing our roadworkers face life-threatening risks on a daily basis and fatalities continue to occur at these work sites. But many of our road workers have tragically lost their lives simply doing their jobs – which is to ensure our roads are in good working order. Roads Australia is proud to work with SARAH: Safer Australian Roads and Highways Group, the Traffic Management Association of Australia (TMAA), Australian Flexible Pavement Association (AfPA), and Roadmarking Industry Association of Australia to raise awareness of the dangerous condition faced by road workers around Australia, and to encourage our members and industry to acknowledge Road Worker Day of Remembrance (#RWDOR or #RWDOR24) this year. It is an important day in our nation’s broader discussion on road safety, and we will continue to encourage practical solutions wherever possible that help ensure a safer outcome for road users across Australia. There's still time to show your support for #RWDOR: https://lnkd.in/gy3cAyck

Tomorrow is National Road Worker Day of Remembrance (#RWDOR), a day that honours the road workers who have faced tragic losses or injuries while working diligently on our roads. The dedicated individuals in our industry are vital to community infrastructure and deserve a safe journey home. Sadly, in recent years, we've been witness to too many heart-wrenching incidents, where news of another injury or loss has left us all deeply affected. We asked our team members four pivotal questions about safety and remembrance. Watch the video for their insights, and join us on November 9th for this inaugural RWDOR, as we remember. In partnership with SARAH Group (Founder: National Road Safety Week), Traffic Management Association of Australia (TMAA), Roads Australia, Roadmarking Industry Association of Australia, and the Australian Flexible Pavement Association (AfPA). #COLAS #RWDOR24 #Safety #ColasCares

Leilani Rakei lost her daddy three years ago when a speeding and disqualified driver struck and killed him as he was working setting up road cones on a worksite. No child should lose a parent because they went out to work. Road Worker Day of Remembrance has been set up on Leilani's dad Timmy's anniversary. Tomorrow November 9th please remember the Road Workers who have lost their lives or suffered serious injuries while doing their jobs and slow down and observe speed restrictions at worksites. We all deserve to get home to our loved ones safely, every day, with no exceptions. A huge thanks to Leilani and her mum Tania for the beautiful tribute. #RWDOR #RWDOR24
