Last Friday, NSW Roads Minister John Graham addressed our sold-out Sydney Annual Lunch, providing an update on the NSW Government’s investment and reform priorities heading into 2025. “We've lifted the state's infrastructure budget again by billions of dollars,” said Minister Graham, reflecting on the year that’s been. “The focus for that infrastructure program is really backing in the Government's housing agenda. We are changing the nature of the projects we're building, but we are building more infrastructure in NSW.” Minister Graham also announced the successful proposals in the Government’s new Gateway to Innovate (GtI) program, which provides a pathway for organisations to trial and test innovations on transport projects to uplift productivity across our sector. Over 3,100 representatives engaged with the consultation, and following a competitive process with eight finalists, three proposals were successful – including two proposals from Roads Australia members: 💠 Altus Traffic Australia will deliver pilots for a safer, smarter work zones “by attaching sensors to road signs, cones and barriers – enhancing safety in high risk environments, like traffic management, by providing real-time mapping and monitoring for these safety road tools. 💠 Aurecon will deliver ClaRFI – an AI-powered collaboration and project intelligence tool, helping save time and reduce complexity in project management. 💠 The third successful proposal was for a new technology balancing worker safety and productivity by managing fatigue risks in real-time – FatigueTech – delivered by Ethos Health Pty Ltd. RA members are deeply committed to supporting innovation that improves safety for all road users and workers. We are delighted to see two of our members participate in these pilot programs that Minister Graham believes “will make a huge difference” in reducing the accident and injury toll on Australia’s roads. Minister Graham also announced $437 million in joint NSW-Commonwealth funding to support 230 lifesaving projects across the state’s roads, following a meeting of Australia’s road safety ministers, including new chair, Senator Anthony Chisholm. Altus Group is proud to announce our recognition as a "Successful Proposal” in the Gateway to Innovate program by Transport for NSW, announced at today’s Roads Australia Luncheon in Sydney by The Hon John Graham MLC. Over 3,100 representatives engaged with Gateway to Innovate with 8 finalists (one being Altus Group) invited to pitch their ideas to the expert judging panel. From this highly competitive process, 3 proposals were successful of which we are proud to be one, with our flagship innovation - Intellitag.   Earlier this year, Transport for NSW called on industry leaders to present innovative solutions that can be tested and potentially implemented to drive long-term productivity gains within the construction sector.   Intellitag is a groundbreaking solution that creates a digital twin of traffic management assets such as road signs, cones, and barriers. This technology shifts the focus from routine visual inspections to event-based maintenance, allowing teams to concentrate on more critical tasks. Intellitag uses sensors and cloud-based technology to detect issues in real-time, triggering maintenance only when necessary. This approach minimises resource-intensive manual checks, reduces risks to personnel, and improves response times to hazards.   Altus Group is proud to be at the forefront of this transformative journey, setting a new benchmark for safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility in infrastructure projects. We thank Transport for NSW for this opportunity and invite industry stakeholders to join us in this exciting venture and explore the potential of Intellitag to revolutionise work zone management.    Read our full announcement here: https://lnkd.in/gV-7n7mg

We're excited to share a significant advancement in road worker safety and driver behaviour management. Fulton Hogan Egis has introduced Workzone Digitisation for all scheduled closures on M5 East (M5E). This initiative is a game-changer in our mission to create safer work environments and improve traffic management. Workzone Digitisation involves the strategic deployment of various smart assets aimed at reducing risks and improving safety in the work environment. Specific to the M5E site, the following digital technologies have been introduced and deployed for each closure: ▪ Portable Site Alarms x 4 units  ▪ Cone Sensors x 50 units  ▪ Sentry Lidar Laser x 2 units  ▪ Intellitag Sign Tags x 17 units Since introducing Workzone Digitisation on the M5E in April 2024, significant changes have been observed. Despite the imposition of speed limits, 74% of vehicles traversing the M5E work zone fail to comply with the posted speed restrictions, with average speeds exceeding the limit by 19 km/h (59 km/h). Moreover, in 59% of digital deployments, cones placed within lane closures or tapers were struck, highlighting the persistent risks to road workers. 👉 Read the full case study here with further data insights provided: https://lnkd.in/gBpyFH47 #RoadSafety #TrafficManagement #Innovation #SmartTechnology #WorkzoneDigitisation #AltusTraffic
