The Sativus Pty Ltd team spent this week collaborating with the incredible educators at Park Ridge State High School, utilising their Critical Thinking Space. Together, we created assessment items, lesson plans, and unit plans for Years 7–10 English, Health & Physical Education, Science, Mathematics, and Digital Technology subjects. We used out-of-the-box thinking and diversity of input to design learning journeys for students that have clear and direct links between what they learn in the classrooms and what they do outside of school. We’re proud to contribute to shaping future-ready students and strengthening the bridge between education and life beyond the school gates! #Collaboration #EducationInnovation #RealWorldLearning #SativusTeam

The award winning Griffith University Science on the GO! program thrives on the power of collaboration and diverse input. Partnerships between scientists and teachers are transformative and can create exceptional opportunities for students to connect classroom learning with the real world. A huge thanks to Anita Brant (nee Hazell), STEM Outreach Manager, and Sidney Hooker from the Science on the GO! Griffith University team for hosting this outstanding event. Dr. Bridie Schultz recently delivered an inspiring workshop on Engaging STEM Assessment Aligned with Real-World Research, which drew double its expected capacity! This reflects the growing demand for innovative approaches to STEM education and the enthusiasm for strategies that bridge research and teaching practices. Feedback from teachers who attended our #teachSTEM workshops on a similar topic last year shows the impact of these strategies in action: 100% of their senior students passed the assessment after implementing the approaches they learned. This underscores the transformative power of equipping educators with cutting-edge tools and techniques. The 2024 Cutting Edge Science Professional Learning Day brought together over 150 teachers from across Queensland, featuring engaging lectures, dynamic workshops, and a keynote address by Associate Professor Michael Simmonds. Here’s to pushing boundaries, creating connections, and delivering meaningful outcomes for both teachers and students! A big thank you to Kate Retzki and the Office of the Inspector-General of Emergency Management for inviting Dr Bridie Schultz from Sativus Pty Ltd to the Queensland Disaster Management Research Forum, where researchers and practitioners openly discussed this year’s theme: Embedding Research into Practice. With topics ranging from climate research shaping policy to resilient building design, heat-health for Queenslanders, and predicting forest fire spread with artificial intelligence, the forum brought together diverse insights to strengthen Queensland’s disaster preparedness. What an inspiring day filled with diverse topics that ignited meaningful discussions well beyond the session! #Queensland #DisasterManagement #EmergencyManagement #ClimateResearch #Resilience #HeatHealth #ForestFirePrevention #AI #ResearchIntoPractice #SustainableSolutions #CommunityPreparedness

Following the launch of the United Nations One Map initiative at the Conference and Plenary Meeting of the UN Geospatial Network in August, Partners of the One Map initiative advanced their mission by hosting the One Map Partners Lab at the United Nations COP29 Azerbaijan. We were hosted at the Digital Innovation Pavilion to discuss the localisation of climate action. Sativus Pty Ltd is proud to be a Partner in this groundbreaking initiative, alongside the brilliant minds of Miroslav Polzer, Alexandre Caldas, Geoffrey Levene, Caroline Ouko, Matthew Grace, Pourya Salehi, Davor Orlic, Pascal P., Douglas Ragan, and Daria Shumilova. Thanks to Miroslav Polzer from GloCha Global Challenges Action Network for spearheading this endeavour and creating a space for collaboration and innovation. This beautiful milestone reflects the collective vision and drive behind the initiative. On the Panel, Dr Bridie Schultz spoke about the power of collaborative partnerships between researchers and communities that use the citizen science method to collect robust data to drive impactful solutions that address global challenges and contribute to a more sustainable future. This event highlights the potential of geospatial information systems, such as the One Map - One Humanity initiative of the UN Geospatial Network, and innovative public-private partnerships for the localisation, coordination and incentivisation of climate action on the local and global level.
